Fused Analytical and Iterative Reconstruction (AIR) via modified proximal forward-backward splitting: a FDK-based iterative image reconstruction example for CBCT

open access: yes, 2016
This work is to develop a general framework, namely analytical iterative reconstruction (AIR) method, to incorporate analytical reconstruction (AR) method into iterative reconstruction (IR) method, for enhanced CT image quality and reconstruction ...

Characterisation of the Mesial Root and Middle Mesial Canal Morphology in Mandibular First Molars: An Ex Vivo Micro‐CT Study

open access: yesAustralian Endodontic Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This ex vivo study characterised the mesial root morphology of mandibular first molars with a middle mesial canal (MMC) using micro‐CT. Among 469 scanned molars, 42 (8.96%) presented an MMC. Morphological parameters analysed included canal configuration, chamber orifice features, dentine thickness, isthmus type, and aspect ratio.

Use of CBCT Guidance for Tooth Autotransplantation in Children

open access: yesJournal of dentistry research, 2019
Tooth autotransplantation (TAT) offers a viable biological approach to tooth replacement in children and adolescents. The aim of this study was to evaluate the outcome of the cone-beam computed tomographic (CBCT)–guided TAT compared to the conventional ...

Digitally Guided Hydraulic Crestal Sinus Floor Elevation Versus Free‐Hand Osteotome Technique: A Single‐Blinded Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial

open access: yesClinical Oral Implants Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives To compare the clinical and radiographic outcomes of crestal sinus floor elevation (SFE) using a digital surgical guide (DSG) and hydraulic sinus lift technique versus the conventional osteotome technique. Methods Patients requiring crestal SFE and single‐implant placement in the posterior maxilla with a minimum of 5 mm of residual ...

Comparative evaluation of CBCT and MRI in Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) disorders and their relationship to periodontal health

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Bioallied Sciences
Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are diagnostic tools frequently employed to evaluate temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, yet their comparative efficacy remains a subject of interest.

Gender assessment through three-dimensional analysis of maxillary sinuses by means of Cone Beam Computed Tomography [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
OBJECTIVE: The availability of a low dose radiation technology such as Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) in dental practice has increased the number of scans available for forensic purposes. Moreover, specific software allows for three-dimensional (

Clinical and Radiographic Performance of Two Distinct Sandblasted, Large‐Grit, Acid‐Etched Implant Surfaces: A Split‐Mouth Randomized Clinical Trial

open access: yesClinical Oral Implants Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim To compare the clinical performance of two sandblasted, large‐grit, acid‐etched implant surfaces regarding changes in radiographic marginal bone level (MBL) 12 months after loading. Materials and Methods In this randomized, split‐mouth, dual‐center clinical trial, each patient received one test (modified hydrophilic surface) implant and ...
