Information sharing and willingness-to-pay for CBPP vaccine in rural Kenya
Vaccine, 2019The study estimates cattle owners' willingness-to-pay (WTP) for Contagious Bovine Pleuropneumonia (CBPP) vaccine in Samburu county, Kenya. Of particular policy relevance, the study presents findings on WTP for i) improved access to vaccines and ii) timely access to disease-risk information. The mean price for a CBPP vaccine was estimated at KES 66 (USD

A better vaccine than the existing ones against contagious bovine pleuropneumonia (CBPP) caused by Mycoplasma mycoides subsp. mycoides small colony type (MmmSC) would improve the chances for eradication of CBPP. In such an effort, immunostimulating complexes (ISCOMS) have been prepared from the whole detergent-solubilized cells of MmmSC and ...

Improved formulations for existing CBPP vaccines—recommendations for change
Vaccine, 2004Contagious bovine pleuropneumonia (CBPP) is an economically important transboundary disease, widely present in sub-saharan Africa. Social, cultural and economic factors mean that effective vaccination is the only viable control policy at present. Unfortunately, contemporary live attenuated vaccines are reportedly of limited efficacy and have been ...

Contagious bovine pleuropneumonia (CBPP) is a severe respiratory disease of cattle and buffalo caused by Mycoplasma mycoides subsp. mycoides "Small Colony" (MmmSC). The agent of CBPP has been isolated from goats in different countries including CBPP-free areas. Goats can therefore be regarded as a putative MmmSC reservoir.

The study was conducted with the aim of evaluating the xerovac process as a method for preparing contagious bovine pleuropneumonia (CBPP) vaccine with increased heat resistance. The thermo-protective effects of various concentrations of trehalose in mycoplasma growth medium, various concentrations of trehalose in the dehydration stabilizer and the ...

Between 1990 and 1993, 61 outbreaks of contagious bovine pleuropneumonia (CBPP) were reported in Lombardy, Northern Italy. In this study, gross pathological examination was carried out on 3129 slaughtered cattle, 716 of which (22.9%) showed typical CBPP pulmonary lesions.

Control of CBPP — a role for antibiotics?
Veterinary Record, 2006SIR, — Contagious bovine pleuropneumonia (cbpp), caused by Mycoplasma mycoides subspecies mycoides sc, was eradicated from the Caprivi region of Namibia in 1939. However, the relentless spread of cbpp in sub-Saharan Africa and in Zambia, in particular, during the past 10 years, meant it was only ...

A competitive ELISA for the specific diagnosis of contagious bovine pleuropneumonia (CBPP)
Veterinary Microbiology, 1998A competitive ELISA, using a specific monoclonal antibody, was designed to detect antibodies to Mycoplasma mycoides subsp. mycoides SC, the agent of contagious bovine pleuropneumonia. One monoclonal antibody was found suitable for such a test, '117/5', it does not cross-react with any of the other mycoplasma species tested, furthermore, its binding is ...

A new microtitration method for the enumeration of contagious bovine pleuropneumonia (CBPP) vaccines
Biologicals, 1992A new method is proposed for the microtitration of CBPP vaccines by performing eight parallel endpoint two-fold dilutions. When performed on a 96-well plate, it gives a titre with a precision of +/- 0.2 log10. By comparison, the established method, performed in tubes, gives a precision of only +/- 0.6 log10.
