Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Environmental Risk Assessment of Carbon Capture and Storage

open access: yes, 2013
The underground storage of carbon dioxide (CO2) in geologic reservoirs, known as CO2 capture and storage (CCS), has been widely developed as the part of a mitigation strategy for increasing global anthropogenic CO2 emissions.

Application of Advanced Technologies for CO2 Capture from Industrial Sources [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The great majority of the research on CO2 capture worldwide is today devoted to the integration of new technologies in power plants, which are responsible for about 80% of the worldwide CO2 emission from large stationary sources.

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Offshore Thermal Power with CCS: An Alternative to CO2 Transportation

open access: yes, 2011
One of the most important issues facing our generation is that of climate change. As the world’s demand for energy increases so do our carbon dioxide emissions.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

환경안전성을 고려한 이산화탄소 해양지중저장

open access: yes, 2013

Regulation of Ccs Storage Sites in Norway and Compliance With EEA Law [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Carbon capture and storage (CCS) has been deployed in Norway since 1996. Originally, this activity came under the country’s mineral legislation. In the late 2000s, the European Union established a detailed legal framework for the safe deployment of CCS,
