Donor heart preservation with hypoxic-conditioned medium-derived from bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells improves cardiac function in a heart transplantation model

open access: yesStem Cell Research & Therapy, 2021
Background In heart transplantation, donor hearts inevitably suffer from ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury, which leads to primary graft dysfunction and affects patients’ survival rate.

Impact of prematurity and the CTG repeat length on outcomes in congenital myotonic dystrophy

open access: yesBMC Research Notes, 2020
Objective Patients with congenital myotonic dystrophy (CDM) tend to be born preterm. Although the CDM severity generally depends on the CTG repeat length, prematurity may also affect the prognosis in patients with CDM.

Safety of Prescription Nonsteroidal Anti‐inflammatory Drugs in Adults With Inflammatory Bowel Disease: Data From a Large Administrative Claims Cohort

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective The concern that nonsteroidal anti‐inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) may precipitate flares of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) has limited their use in managing musculoskeletal symptoms in those with IBD, but safety data are mixed. Methods This retrospective cohort study included patients with IBD aged at least 18 years from Optum's deidentified ...

High‐Throughput Digital Decoding of Vascular Heterogeneity in Patient‐Specific Tumor Microenvironments

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Quantitative characterization of vascular heterogeneity in complex microphysiological systems (MPS), particularly within patient‐derived tumor microenvironments, remains a major challenge for scalable disease modeling and therapeutic evaluation.

Feasibility of Applying Clean Development Mechanism and GHGs Emission Reductions in the Gold Mining Industry: A Case of Thailand

open access: yesEnvironmental and Climate Technologies, 2015
There is presently overwhelming scientific consensus that global climate change is indeed occurring, and that human activities are the primary driver. An increasingly resource and carbon constrained world will continue to pose formidable challenges to ...

Secure Access Control Realization Based on Self-Sovereign Identity for Cloud CDM

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
Public healthcare has transformed from treatment to preventive care and disease management. The Common Data Model (CDM) provides a standard data structure defined to utilize hospitals’ data.

Geometry‐Controlled Assembly of Self‐Standing Nanorods With Undisturbed Plasmonics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reports a geometry‐driven assembly strategy to vertically align Au@Ag core–shell nanorods on PS beads. This well‐defined architecture enables the preservation of the intrinsic optical response of individual nanorods. Thus, demonstrate a highly reproducible SERS enhancement with exceptional uniformity.

Sustainable Carbon Fibers Enable Stable Long‐Term Lithium Metal Deposition for Prospective Zero‐Excess Lithium Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents lightweight, lignin‐derived carbon fiber current collectors that enable controlled lithium deposition. Structural defects and intermediate‐sized pores stabilize pre‐nucleation quasi‐metallic lithium clusters, promoting uniform lithium plating and stripping.

Accelerating Biosensor Discovery: A Computationally‐Driven Pipeline for Microplastics Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
A computationally guided pipeline unites molecular simulation, synthetic biology, electrochemical engineering, and machine learning to accelerate biosensor discovery. A Bacillus anthracis carbohydrate‐binding module is used to develop a high‐performance micro‐ and nanoplastics sensor with greatly reduced error and variability.

Dark matter and cosmology: CDM with a cosmological constant (ACDM) vs. CDM with hot dark matter (CHDM) [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Physics B - Proceedings Supplements, 1996
Here we discuss what are perhaps the two most popular variants of CDM that might agree with the data: \lcdm\ and CHDM. While the predictions of COBE-normalized \lcdm\ and CHDM both agree well with the available data on scales of $\sim 10$ to $100 \hMpc$, each has potential virtues and defects.
