Cosmological Perturbation Theory in the Synchronous vs. Conformal Newtonian Gauge [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
We present a systematic treatment of the linear theory of scalar gravitational perturbations in the synchronous gauge and the conformal Newtonian (or longitudinal) gauge. We first derive the transformation law relating the two gauges.

Sustainable Carbon Fibers Enable Stable Long‐Term Lithium Metal Deposition for Prospective Zero‐Excess Lithium Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents lightweight, lignin‐derived carbon fiber current collectors that enable controlled lithium deposition. Structural defects and intermediate‐sized pores stabilize pre‐nucleation quasi‐metallic lithium clusters, promoting uniform lithium plating and stripping.

Accelerating Biosensor Discovery: A Computationally‐Driven Pipeline for Microplastics Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
A computationally guided pipeline unites molecular simulation, synthetic biology, electrochemical engineering, and machine learning to accelerate biosensor discovery. A Bacillus anthracis carbohydrate‐binding module is used to develop a high‐performance micro‐ and nanoplastics sensor with greatly reduced error and variability.

Application of PRECEDE-PROCEED Planning Model in Transforming the Clinical Decision Making Behavior of Physical Therapists in Myanmar

open access: yesFrontiers in Public Health, 2019
Introduction: Physical therapists in Myanmar use a prescriptive model of Clinical Decision Making (CDM). Improving CDM effectiveness is one essential factor in professionalizing practice and enhancing patient outcomes.

A Novel Gain‐of‐Function ITPR1 Variant Associated With a Movement Disorder Characterized by Tremor and Dystonia

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The 1,4,5‐trisphosphate receptor type 1 (ITPR1) gene encodes an endoplasmic reticulum calcium release channel, in which loss‐of‐function mutations have been associated with spinocerebellar ataxias and related neurological phenotypes. Only one gain‐of‐function mutation in the highly conserved suppressor domain of ITPR1 has been previously ...

Individualized Atrophy‐Based Prediction of Dementia Progression in Familial Frontotemporal Lobar Degeneration With Bayesian Linear Mixed‐Effects Modeling

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective Age of symptom onset is highly variable in familial frontotemporal lobar degeneration (f‐FTLD). Accurate prediction of onset would inform clinical management and trial enrollment. Prior studies indicate that individualized maps of brain atrophy can predict conversion to dementia in f‐FTLD.

Addressing the need for a clean development mechanism (CDM) specific project management strategy

open access: yesSouth African Journal of Economic and Management Sciences, 2011
Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects have additional technical, financial and regulatory requirements that are not fully addressed by classic project management approaches.

Warm dark matter primordial spectra and the onset of structure formation at redshift z

open access: yes, 2013
Analytic formulas reproducing the warm dark matter (WDM) primordial spectra are obtained for WDM particles decoupling in and out of thermal equilibrium which provide the initial data for WDM non-linear structure formation.

An Isocurvature CDM Cosmogony. I. A Worked Example of Evolution Through Inflation

open access: yes, 1998
I present a specific worked example of evolution through inflation to the initial conditions for an isocurvature CDM model for structure formation. The model invokes three scalar fields, one that drives power law inflation, one that survives to become ...

Intergalactic Helium Absorption in Cold Dark Matter Models [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Observations from the HUT and the HST have recently detected HeII absorption along the lines of sight to two high redshift quasars. We use cosmological simulations with gas dynamics to investigate HeII absorption in the cold dark matter (CDM) theory of ...
