A new karyotype inCallicebus Torquatus(Cebidae, Primates) [PDF]

open access: yesHereditas, 2000
We describe a new karyotype of Callicebus torquatus using conventional staining, G-banding with Wright Stain, CBG, Ag-NOR staining and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) with human telomere probes and comparative analysis with the previously reported karyotype of C. torquatus torquatus (2n = 20).

Cebidae

open access: yes, 2022
Phylogenetic relationships among Cebidae species of platyrrhine primates are presently under debate. Studies prior to whole genome sequence (WGS) availability utilizing unidirectional Alu repeats linked Callithrix and Saguinus as sister taxa, based on a ...

Sperm Morphology in Neotropical Primates

open access: yesAnimals, 2019
The morphological and morphometric characterization of spermatozoa has been used as a taxonomic and phylogenetic tool for different species of mammals. We evaluated and compared the sperm morphometry of five neotropical primate species: Alouatta caraya ...

Phylogenetic inferences of Atelinae (Platyrrhini) based on multi-directional chromosome painting in Brachyteles arachnoides, Ateles paniscus paniscus and Ateles b. marginatus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We performed multi-directional chromosome painting in a comparative cytogenetic study of the three Atelinae species Brachyteles arachnoides, Ateles paniscus paniscus and Ateles belzebuth marginatus, in order to reconstruct phylogenetic relationships ...

Characterization of Satellite DNAs in Squirrel Monkeys genus Saimiri (Cebidae, Platyrrhini) [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2020
Abstract The genus Saimiri is a decades-long taxonomic and phylogenetic puzzle to which cytogenetics has contributed crucial data. All Saimiri species apparently have a diploid number of 2n = 44 but vary in the number of chromosome ...

Aspectos biológicos e comportamentais de Sapajus libidinosus: Revisão

open access: yesPubvet, 2018
Os macacos-prego da espécie Sapajus libidinosus são conhecidos como os macacos mais robustos e inteligentes do Novo Mundo, e dentre as espécies neotropicais, é a que apresenta maior distribuição geográfica.

Mitochondrial DNA-like sequence in the nuclear genome of Saguinus (Callitrichinae, Primates): transfer estimation

open access: yesGenetics and Molecular Biology, 2000
Mitochondrial DNA-like sequences have been found in the nuclei of a variety of organisms. These nuclear pseudogenes can be used to estimate relative evolutionary rates of mitochondrial genes, and can be used as outgroups in phylogenetic analyses. In this

Framework of the Alu Subfamily Evolution in the Platyrrhine Three-Family Clade of Cebidae, Callithrichidae, and Aotidae [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
The history of Alu retroposons has been choreographed by the systematic accumulation of inherited diagnostic nucleotide substitutions to form discrete subfamilies, each having a distinct nucleotide consensus sequence.

Molecular Phylogenetics of Aotus (Platyrrhini, Cebidae)

open access: yesInternational Journal of Primatology, 2011
The accurate identification of taxa of Aotus is essential for 1) the development of precise biomedical assays, 2) the determination of potential illegal traffic of this genus, and 3) conservation. Although many studies have contributed to what we know about the phylogenetics of Aotus, none used a sufficiently large number of samples to clarify its ...
