Thermodynamic Functions of CeBr3 and Congruently Melting M3CeBr6 Compounds (M = Rb, Cs)

Journal of Chemical & Engineering Data, 2008
The enthalpies of phase transitions and heat capacity were measured by differential scanning calorimetry for CeBr3 as well as the Rb3CeBr6 and Cs3CeBr6 congruently melting compounds. A polynomial heat capacity dependence with respect to temperature was used to fit the experimental data.

Scintillation Performance of Aliovalently-Doped ${\rm CeBr}_{3}$

IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science, 2009
Strengthening the crystal lattice of lanthanide halides, which are brittle, anisotropic, ionic crystals, may prove to increase the availability and ruggedness of these scintillators for room-temperature gamma-ray spectroscopy applications. Eight aliovalent dopants for CeBr3 were explored in an effort to find the optimal aliovalent strengthening agent ...

Luminescence and Scintillation Properties of a CeBr$_{3}$ Single Crystal

IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science, 2008
Crystal growth, luminescence, and scintillation properties of a CeBr3 crystal are presented. The crystal was grown with Bridgman method using two-zone transparent furnace and cut to Oslash10 times 10 mm3. The investigation of luminescence and scintillation properties of the CeBr3 was performed under the excitation by ultraviolet and gamma-rays at room ...

The scintillation properties of CeBr 3−x Cl x single crystals

Journal of Luminescence, 2014
Abstract We present a study of mixed halide single crystal scintillators with the general formula CeBr 3− x Cl x , where 0≤ x ≤3. Single crystals with various bromine–chlorine ratios were grown by the Bridgman method, and their scintillation properties were investigated. Under X-ray irradiation, the peak emission ranged between 350 and 450 nm. The

Performance Evaluation of Liquinert-Processed CeBr₃ Crystals Coupled With a Multipixel Photon Counter

IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science, 2020
Ce-doped scintillators are capable of shortening the time constant as the luminescence is caused by 5d $\to$ 4f transition of Ce3+. A scintillator with a short-time constant is suitable for time-of-flight (TOF)-positron emission tomography (PET).

Investigation into nanostructured lanthanum halides and CeBr 3 for nuclear radiation detection

SPIE Proceedings, 2011
Nanocomposites may enable the use of scintillator materials such as cerium-doped lanthanum fluoride (LaF3:Ce) and cerium bromide (CeBr3) without requiring the growth of large crystals 1 . Nanostructured detectors may allow us to engineer immensely sized detectors of flexible form factors that will have a broad energy range and an energy resolution ...

Hot Wall Evaporation of High-Sensitivity, High-Resolution CeBr$_{3}$ Scintillator

IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science, 2012
Research related to fabrication of novel lanthanide halide scintillators in large physical sizes, using time- and cost-efficient methods, has been an ongoing process. The principal emphasis is on fabrication to derive novel light-conserving morphologies that are required for room-temperature radioisotope identification and other demanding ...

First images from a CeBr3 /LYSO:Ce Temporal Imaging portable Compton camera at 1.3 MeV

2018 IEEE Nuclear Science Symposium and Medical Imaging Conference Proceedings (NSS/MIC), 2018
During nuclear decommissioning or waste management operations, there is a need for imaging the contamination field while identifying and quantifying the contaminants. Our objective is to test a Compton camera within the energy range 300 keV-2 MeV that uses both light and timing distribution of fast scintillating monolithic crystals.
