Manipulative Tendencies of Captive Cebus albifrons

International Journal of Primatology, 1999
We conducted two experiments to examine the manipulative tendencies of captive Cebus albifrons. In Experiment 1 we examined hand preference for reaching by providing subjects with food either on the cage floor (to facilitate quadrupedal reaching) or at the height of an upright subject's shoulder (to facilitate bipedal reaching).

Lack of platelet monoamine oxidase activity in cebus monkeys (Cebus albifrons)

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part C: Comparative Pharmacology, 1989
1. Recent evidence suggests that monoamine oxidase (MAO) plays an important role modulating the extrapyramidal syndromes produced by neuroleptic drugs in both human and nonhuman primates. 2. To evaluate the possibility of using peripheral blood platelet MAO-B levels as indices of central nervous system MAO-B effects, we measured platelet MAO-B levels ...

Growth and developmental body composition of the cebus monkey (Cebus albifrons)

American Journal of Primatology, 1982
AbstractThe carcasses of 37 Cebus albifrons, Colombia (19 male, 17 female, 1 unknown) with ages ranging from premature stillborn to 8 yr, were analyzed for body composition. The absolute content of water, protein, fat, and ash were determined by standard techniques and were analyzed as functions of carcass weight and age.

Physical growth of cebus monkeys, Cebus albifrons, during protein or calorie deficiency

The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, 1975
Infant cebus monkey (Cebus albifrons) on experimental diets providing low-protein (2.8% of calories) or low-calorie (67% of ad libitum intake) levels for 20 weeks beginning at 8 weeks of age showed marked changes in their patterns of physical growth. Significant size differences between the malnourished animals and the control group appeared within 4 ...

Cebus albifrons (White-fronted capuchin)

1975
These karyotypes came from blood cultures and were kindly donated by Dr. L.E.M. de Boer, Holland. The acrocentrics here displayed as the 22nd and 23rd pairs have a paracentromeric secondary constriction and often associate with one another. Other cebus species have similar karyotypes but only insufficient material has been collected to warrant a ...
