Aderência às células epiteliais bucais e hidrofobicidade de Fusobacterium nucleatum isolados de humanos e macacos Cebus apella

open access: yesBrazilian Dental Science, 2010

Does Knowledge of the Partner's Need Affect Food Sharing in Tufted Capuchin Monkeys?

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Primatology, Volume 87, Issue 10, October 2025.
Capuchin monkeys were given the possibility to share food after having or not having seen a partner eat. Neither having seen the partner eat nor the quality of the food eaten by the partner had any effect on the monkeys' willingness to share part of their food.

Correlative scanning and transmission electron microscopic study on the ependymal surface of Cebus apella

open access: yesArquivos de Neuro-Psiquiatria, 1986
Topographical variations of the ependymal surface of the whole brain ventricular system of Cebus apella, a wild Brazilian species, were studied at the scanning electron microscope after C02 critical point drying and carbon-gold coating.

Look past the cooperative eye hypothesis: reconsidering the evolution of human eye appearance

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 100, Issue 5, Page 2038-2054, October 2025.
ABSTRACT The external appearance of the human eye has been prominently linked to the evolution of complex sociocognitive functions in our species. The cooperative eye hypothesis (CEH) proposes that human eyeballs, with their weakly expressed conjunctival and scleral pigmentation, are uniquely conspicuous and evolved under selective pressures to behave ...

Mechanical isolation of capuchin monkey (Cebus apella) preantral ovarian follicles

open access: yesArquivo Brasileiro de Medicina Veterinária e Zootecnia, 2003
The aim of this study was to adapt a mechanical procedure for the isolation of intact preantral follicles from Cebus apella ovaries. The interval effect of serial sections of the tissue chopper was tested on a number of preantral follicles isolated from ...

Ontogeny of hallucal metatarsal rigidity and shape in the rhesus monkey (Macaca mulatta) and chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Life history variables including the timing of locomotor independence, along with changes in preferred locomotor behaviors and substrate use during development, influence how primates use their feet throughout ontogeny.

Absence of Blood Chimerism in Twin Goeldi's Monkeys (Callimico goeldii): Implications for Interpreting Callitrichid Phylogeny

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Primatology, Volume 87, Issue 9, September 2025.
All Callitrichidae have twins who are chimeras, but Callimico has singletons. We examined evidence of blood chimerism in the only known surviving Callimico twins, and found that they were non‐chimeric. This represents the first report of the absence of blood chimerism in twins of any callitrichid species.
