The presence of neuronal-specific nuclear protein (NeuN) in the circadian timing system of the capuchin monkey (Cebus apella)

open access: yesSleep Science, 2010
Background and objective: The circadian timing system (CTS) is composed of a group of specialized neuronal structures that establish a temporal organization of physiological and behavioral processes within precise patterns.

Health Correlates of Extended Longevity in Captive Ring‐Tailed Lemurs (Lemur catta)

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Primatology, Volume 87, Issue 12, December 2025.
Male and female ring‐tailed lemurs exhibit distinct patterns of age‐related change in certain serum chemistry markers. Photo by David Haring. ABSTRACT Captive primates maintained at accredited institutions can live extraordinarily long lives and, as a result, are useful models for understanding the physiology of aging. Many institutions monitor primate

Aderência às células epiteliais bucais e hidrofobicidade de Fusobacterium nucleatum isolados de humanos e macacos Cebus apella

open access: yesBrazilian Dental Science, 2010

An Observation of Coordinated Collaboration in Wild Brown Skua (Stercorarius antarcticus)

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 12, December 2025.
We present the first video evidence of cooperative food processing in wild brown skuas (Stercorarius antarcticus) on the Antarctic Peninsula. Our observations show that pairs coordinated their actions over space and time, consistent with actively coordinated collaboration.

Correlative scanning and transmission electron microscopic study on the ependymal surface of Cebus apella

open access: yesArquivos de Neuro-Psiquiatria, 1986
Topographical variations of the ependymal surface of the whole brain ventricular system of Cebus apella, a wild Brazilian species, were studied at the scanning electron microscope after C02 critical point drying and carbon-gold coating.

Close encounters of the friendly kind: pacific between‐group interactions in primates

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 100, Issue 6, Page 2257-2284, December 2025.
ABSTRACT While intergroup conflict features prominently in the behavioural ecology literature, its antonym, intergroup peace, has been a rather neglected phenomenon until recently. Neighbourly relations and affiliative interactions are far from uncommon.

Mechanical isolation of capuchin monkey (Cebus apella) preantral ovarian follicles

open access: yesArquivo Brasileiro de Medicina Veterinária e Zootecnia, 2003
The aim of this study was to adapt a mechanical procedure for the isolation of intact preantral follicles from Cebus apella ovaries. The interval effect of serial sections of the tissue chopper was tested on a number of preantral follicles isolated from ...

Inhibitory control tests in non‐human animals: validity, reliability, and perspectives

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 100, Issue 6, Page 2482-2507, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Inhibitory control, the ability to control impulsive or pre‐learned behaviour in order to reach a more rewarding goal, is essential in many aspects of normal life. In non‐human animals, better inhibitory control performances have been associated with a larger brain, better problem‐solving skills, and fitness benefits.
