Marek's Disease Virus-Induced Transient Cecal Tonsil Atrophy

Avian Diseases, 2014
Marek's disease (MD) is a lymphoproliferative disease of domestic chickens that is caused by a highly cell-associated oncogenic alpha-herpesvirus, Marek's disease virus (MDV). MDV replicates in chicken lymphocytes and establishes a latent infection within CD4+ T cells. MD is characterized by bursal and thymic atrophy and rapid onset of T cell lymphomas

Early onset of cecal perforation in neonatal, recto‐sigmoid type Hirschsprung's disease

Pediatrics International, 1994
AbstractHirschsprung's disease has been considered to cause intestinal perforation in rare cases. Even if a perforation occurs, the majority of cases are associated with the long‐segment or total colonic type. Our case developed the perforation in the neonatal period in spite of being of the recto‐sigmoidal type, and it affected the cecum.

The effect of aging on oro-cecal transit time in normal subjects and patients with gallstone disease

Aging Clinical and Experimental Research, 1995
To ascertain whether aging and/or cholelithiasis can influence oro-cecal transit time (OCTT), we studied a total of 70 subjects, i.e., 10 healthy young adult controls, 22 healthy elderly controls, 18 elderly cholelithiasis patients and 20 elderly subjects with a history of cholecystectomy for gallstones.

Effect of Aflatoxin B1 on Resistance in Poultry Against Cecal Coccidiosis and Marek's Disease

American Journal of Veterinary Research, 1973
SUMMARY Aflatoxin B1 has been found in hazardous concentrations in certain Florida commercial feeds. Therefore, research was performed to determine whether aflatoxin B1 added at the concentration of 0.2 (parts per million) (p.p.m.) to a commercial feed given to New Hampshire chickens would interfere with the efficacy of a commercial coccidiostat or ...

Viscerotropic Velogenic Newcastle Disease in Turkeys: Isolation of Newcastle Disease Virus from Tracheal and Cecal Tonsil Organ Cultures

Avian Diseases, 1975
Tracheal and cecal-tonsil organ cultures were made from vaccinated turkeys that had survived challenge of immunity with viscerotropic velogenic strain of Newcastle disease virus (NDV). Culture fluids were tested to show that latent infections did exist in the vaccinated and challenged turkeys, thus indicating a possible carrier state. NDV was recovered
