Renal Oncocytoma With Retrorenal Appendicitis: An Uncommon Juxtaposition of Neoplastic and Inflammatory Processes in the Context of HIV Infection

ABSTRACT In HIV‐positive patients, a blunted inflammatory response can mask retrorenal appendicitis, leading to atypical flank or abdominal pain. We report a case of dual pathology on CT scan involving retrorenal appendicitis and a large renal mass with a central scar suggesting oncocytoma.
