Light availability changes both trait–trait and trait–growth relations.Crown traits have a stronger effect on growth rates in understory.Physiological traits have a stronger effect on growth rates in gap. Abstract Functional traits have been examined to explain the growth rates of forest communities in different sites.

Morphology of pollen grains and orbicules of two threatened species of Cedrela P. Browne (Meliaceae A. Juss.) [PDF]
Pollen grain morphology and the characterization of additional structures related to pollen dispersion can help to understand the strategies presented by species as well as their taxonomic circumscription.

Forest products are the most used inedible renewable resource, but supplies are finite. It is difficult to know which tree species are in wood products or where they come from. Scientific evidence is needed to support or refute origin and species claims in traded products. We describe the building of a geo‐referenced wood reference collection (xylarium)

SEASONAL VARIATION IN WOOD FORMATION OF CEDRELA FISSILIS (MELIACEAE)
Cambial activity and periodicity of secondary xylem formation in Cedrela fissilis, a semi-ring-porous species, were studied. Wood samples were collected periodically from 1996 to 2000. The phenology was related to climate data of the region. The cambium has one active and one dormant period per year. The active period coincides with the wet season when

Somatic embryogenesis and plant regeneration in Cedrela fissilis
Somatic embryos were obtained from immature zygotic embryos of Cedrela fissilis Well. (Meliaceae), after a culture period of 12 months, with regular subcultures every 6–8 weeks. Callus was developed on explants in 2 months on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium containing 2,4 dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) or picloram (PIC).

Adubação orgânica e mineral no crescimento inicial de mudas de Cedrela Fissilis Vellozo / Organic and mineral fertilization in the initial growth Cedrela Fissilis Vellozo seedlings [PDF]
