Pharmacokinetics of Cefoperazone

Drugs, 1981
The pharmacokinetics of cefoperazone in normal subjects, and in patients with hepatic and renal dysfunction are reviewed. After intravenous administration of 2 g of cefoperazone, levels in serum ranged from 202 to 375 microgram/ml depending on the period of drug administration.

Pharmacokinetics of cefoperazone in horses

Journal of Veterinary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, 1996
The pharmacokinetics and bioavailabilty of cefoperazone (CPZ) were studied following intravenous (IV) and intramuscular (IM) administration of single doses (30 mg/kg) to horses. Concentrations in serum, urine and synovial fluid samples were measured following IV administration.

Penetration of cefoperazone into ascites

European Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, 1989
The pharmacokinetics of cefoperazone was studied in eleven cirrhotic patients with ascites after i.v. administration of a single dose of 15 mg.kg-1 (n = 7) or after three doses of 15 mg.kg-1 given at 12 h intervals (n = 4). The concentrations of cefoperazone in serum and ascitic fluid were determined by HPLC.

Cefoperazone-Induced Coagulopathy

Drug Intelligence & Clinical Pharmacy, 1986
A number of recent articles have reviewed the problem of hypoprothrombinemia and bleeding associated with antibiotic therapy. We report three cases in which bleeding is believed to be related to a prolonged prothrombin time secondary to cefoperazone therapy.

Cefoperazone (Cefobid, Pfizer)

Drug Intelligence & Clinical Pharmacy, 1983
Cefoperazone is a new β-lactam antibiotic that possesses a broad spectrum of activity against gram-positive and gram-negative organisms. Cefoperazone differs from all previous cephalosporins in that it has exceptional activity against P. aeruginosa.

Cefoperazone and Prothrombin Time

Annals of Internal Medicine, 1987
Excerpt To the editor: In their article on the relationship between beta-lactam antibiotics and coagulopathy, Sattler and colleagues (1) cited our results (2) from a multicenter trial of cefoperazo...

Comparative in vitro activity of cefoperazone and various combinations of cefoperazone/sulbactam

Diagnostic Microbiology and Infectious Disease, 1990
Cefoperazone with 2 and 4 micrograms/ml of sulbactam and in a 2:1 ratio was tested against 1258 clinical isolates of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, as well as against Gram-negative bacilli that had stably derepressed Type I beta-lactamase or that were hyperproductive of non-Type I beta-lactamases.

[Kinetics of cefoperazone and cefoperazone and cephalothin in rat tissues].

Schweizerische medizinische Wochenschrift, 1980
In order to study the behavior of two cephalosporines in various tissues, 100 mg/kg of cefoperazone (CPZ) or cefalotine (CLT) were administered intraperitoneally to Wistar rats. The animals were sacrificed by groups of 6 at intervals ranging from 30 min to 6 hours after the injection and bioassay of the antibiotic was carried out in 9 organs, the serum,
