An Alkaloid and a Steroid from the Endophytic Fungus Aspergillus fumigatus
Two new compounds, fumitremorgin 12-methoxy-13-[5'-hydroxy-2'-(1''-hydroxy-3''-methoxy-5''-methylbenzoyl)-3'-methoxy]benzoic acid methyl ester (fumitremorgin D, 1) and 4,8,10,14-tetramethyl-6-acetoxy-14-[16-acetoxy-19-(20,21-dimethyl)-18-ene ...

The cell proliferation antigen Ki-67 organises heterochromatin
Antigen Ki-67 is a nuclear protein expressed in proliferating mammalian cells. It is widely used in cancer histopathology but its functions remain unclear. Here, we show that Ki-67 controls heterochromatin organisation.

Modelling the spatial organization of cell proliferation in the developing central nervous system [PDF]
How far is neuroepithelial cell proliferation in the developing central nervous system a deterministic process? Or, to put it in a more precise way, how accurately can it be described by a deterministic mathematical model?

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Mitotic ER-mitochondria contact enhances mitochondrial Ca2+ influx to promote cell division
Summary: Cell division is tightly regulated and requires an expanded energy supply. However, how this energy is generated remains unclear. Here, we establish a correlation between two mitochondrial Ca2+ influx events and ATP production during mitosis ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Cell proliferation and cancer.
The discovery that phosphorylation of selected proteins by cyclin-dependent kinases is the engine which makes the cycle run provides a new image of the control of proliferation and of its deregulation. The high conservation of this machinery in the different eukaryotic organisms emphasizes its early origin and its importance for life. It also makes the

Cell cycle length, cell size, and proliferation rate in hydra stem cells [PDF]
We have analyzed the cell cycle parameters of interstitial cells in Hydra oligactis. Three subpopulations of cells with short, medium, and long cell cycles were identified. Short-cycle cells are stem cells; medium-cycle cells are precursors to nematocyte
