Unstructured cellular automata for harmful algal blooms modelling
Cellular Automata (CA) are discrete modelling approaches based oncomputability theory, mathematics, theoretical biology and microstructuremodelling. CA is capable of (re)producing complex spatial-temporaldynamic patterns by using a set of local evolution

This study reports a microfluidic device with a functionalized surface utilizing a polyoxazoline coating and covalently immobilized gold nanoparticles and anti‐phosphatidylserine antibody. The device efficiently eliminates pre‐apoptotic and apoptotic spermatozoa and yields sperm with substantially improved quality and low DNA damage, offering a simple ...

In MOCVD MoS2 memristors, a current compliance‐regulated Ag filament mechanism is revealed. The filament ruptures spontaneously during volatile switching, while subsequent growth proceeds vertically through the MoS2 layers and then laterally along the van der Waals gaps during nonvolatile switching.

Integration of Low‐Voltage Nanoscale MoS2 Memristors on CMOS Microchips
This article presents the first monolithic integration of nanoscale MoS2‐based memristors into the back‐end‐of‐line of foundry‐fabricated CMOS microchips in a one‐transistor‐one‐resistor (1T1R) architecture. The MoS2‐based 1T1R cells exhibit forming‐free, nonvolatile resistive switching with ultra‐low operating voltages, low cycle‐to‐cycle variability ...

Optoelectronic synaptic devices based on solution‐processed molecular telluride GST‐225 phase‐change inks are demonstrated for three‐factor learning. A global optical signal broadcast through a silicon waveguide induces non‐volatile conductance updates exclusively in locally electrically flagged memristors.

Learning emergence: adaptive cellular automata façade trained by artificial neural networks
This thesis looks into the possibilities of controlling the emergent behaviour of Cellular Automata (CA) to achieve specific architectural goals. More explicitly, the objective is to develop a performing, adaptive building facade, which is fed with the

Non-Direct Encoding Method Based on Cellular Automata to Design Neural Network Architectures [PDF]
Architecture design is a fundamental step in the successful application of Feed forward Neural Networks. In most cases a large number of neural networks architectures suitable to solve a problem exist and the architecture design is, unfortunately, still ...

Spatially Modulated Morphotropic Phase Boundaries in a Compressively Strained Multiferroic Thin Film
ABSTRACT The coexisting rhombohedral‐like (R′, MA) and tetragonal‐like (T′, MC) monoclinic phases in compressively strained bismuth ferrite thin films exhibit exceptional piezoelectric and magnetic properties. While previous studies have largely focused on probing the morphotropic phase boundaries (MPBs) comprising ordered R′/T′ twins, their self ...

Sublinearly space bounded iterative arrays
Iterative arrays (IAs) are a, parallel computational model with a sequential processing of the input. They are one-dimensional arrays of interacting identical deterministic finite automata.
