Symmetry of integrable cellular automaton

Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and General, 2001
The paper shows how various discretization methods applied to the equation \[ {dv_n\over dt}=v_n \sum^M_{j=0}(v_{n+j} -v_{n-j}) \] lead to cellular automata structures and to soliton solutions (which are explicitly written down).

A cellular automaton model of cellular signal transduction

Computers in Biology and Medicine, 2000
On the basis of cellular automata models, a software specifically tailored to model biochemical reactions involved in cellular signal transduction was implemented on a personal computer. Recent data regarding desensitization processes in mouse Leydig cells are used to simulate the underlying reactions of signal transduction. Pretreatment of real Leydig

Attractor vicinity decay for a cellular automaton

Chaos: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Nonlinear Science, 1993
The temporal decay of an attractor’s vicinity for a domain-wall dominated cellular automaton (CA) is studied. Using selected initial pattern ensembles, state space structures in this high-dimensional nonlinear spatial system can be identified via the resulting decay to its attractors.

Kinetic limits of the HPP cellular automaton

Journal of Statistical Physics, 1992
We study the Boltzmann-Grad limit in various versions of the two-dimensional HPP cellular automaton. In the completely deterministic case we prove convergence to an evolution that is not of kinetic type, a well-known phenomenon after Uchyiama's paper on the Broadwell gas, whereas the limiting equation becomes of kinetic type in the model with random ...

The Sandpile Cellular Automaton

2018
This is a short introduction to the sandpile cellular automaton. It is aimed at non-specialist, who may not be familiar with statistical physics models. Technicalities are kept to a minimum and the emphasis is on motivation, clear definitions, key properties and some of the challenges.

Overview of Cellular Automaton Models for Corrosion

2014
A review of corrosion process modeling using cellular automata methods is presented. This relatively new and growing approach takes into account the stochastic nature of the phenomena and uses physico-chemical rules to make predictions at a mesoscopic scale. Milestone models are analyzed and perspectives are established.
