This study investigated how PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) indirectly affects multiple myeloma (MM) cell metabolism and viability. Culturing MM cells in conditioned medium from PYCR1‐silenced BMSCs impaired oxidative phosphorylation and increased sensitivity to bortezomib.

Probabilistic cellular automata for interacting fermionic quantum field theories
A classical local cellular automaton can describe an interacting quantum field theory for fermions. We construct a simple classical automaton for a particular version of the Thirring model with imaginary coupling. This interacting fermionic quantum field

Cellular Automaton Supercomputing [PDF]
Many of the models now used in science and engineering are over a century old. And most of them can be implemented on modern digital computers only with considerable difficulty. Some new basic models are discussed which are much more directly suitable for digital computer simulation. The fundamental principle is that the models considered herein are as

Number-conserving cellular automaton rules
A necessary and sufficient condition for a one-dimensional q-state n-input cellular automaton rule to be number-conserving is established. Two different forms of simpler and more visual representations of these rules are given, and their flow diagrams are determined. Various examples are presented and applications to car traffic are indicated.

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Learning About Growing Neural Cellular Automata
Neural cellular automata have been proven effective in simulating morphogenetic processes. Developing such automata has been applied in 2D and 3D processes related to creating and regenerating complex structures and enabling their behaviors.

A crowd route choice evacuation model in large indoor building spaces
Route choice is a fundamental requirement in the evacuation process. The aim of this paper is to identify a method to simulate crowds in large indoor spaces with consideration of the acoustic system.

A time-reversible cellular automaton can most easily be described by regarding its evolution law as a two-step process, for instance by first allowing the even sites to update, then the odd sites. The discrete Hamiltonian operator procedure of Chap. 19 may be used.

Genetic testing in epithelial ovarian cancer includes both germline and tumor‐testing. This approach often duplicates resources. The current prospective study assessed the feasibility of tumor‐first multigene testing by comparing tumor tissue with germline testing of peripheral blood using an 18‐gene NGS panel in 106 patients.

Monitoring circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in patients with operable breast cancer can reveal disease relapse earlier than radiology in a subset of patients. The failure to detect ctDNA in some patients with recurrent disease suggests that ctDNA could serve as a supplement to other monitoring approaches.
