Numerical Exploration of Thermal Shock Resistance in MgO–C Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A mesostructure‐resolved numerical framework is developed to evaluate the thermal shock resistance of MgO–C refractories. By modeling interface debonding under rapid temperature changes and introducing a modified thermal shock parameter that accounts for mesocracks, the study shows how graphite content and aggregate size influence thermal shock ...

The structure response of sandwich beams with metallic auxetic honeycomb cores under localized impulsive loading-experiments and finite element analysis

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2019
In recent years, auxetic cellular materials such as auxetic reentrant honeycombs were widely studied due to its attractively negative Poisson's ratio.

Multimodal Data‐Driven Microstructure Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A self‐consistent autonomous workflow for EBSP‐based microstructure segmentation by integrating PCA, GMM clustering, and cNMF with information‐theoretic parameter selection, requiring no user input. An optimal ROI size related to characteristic grain size is identified.

Dynamic profiles of early biological responses to predict the treatment efficacy of proton therapy in liver cancer assessed with in vivo kinetic [18F]-FDG PET/MRI

open access: yesRadiation Oncology
Background Proton beam therapy is an advanced treatment for patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma. However, evaluating the response to treatment with tumor size alone is insufficient.

Hydrogen‐Assisted Fracture of Iron‐Based Fe–Ni–Al Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Principal relations and fracture mechanisms of single‐phase and precipitate‐strengthened Fe–Ni–Al alloys subjected to prior electrochemical hydrogen charging are identified. The mechanisms of hydrogen effect on strength and microhardness are discussed, including hydrogen‐induced increase in microhardness and the role of hydrogen in fracture behavior ...

Creep Properties and Deformation Mechanism of Additively Manufactured NiAl‐CrMo Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additively manufactured NiAl‐CrMo composites contain numerous interfaces and cell boundaries that control their creep response. At 700°C under high applied stress, creep is dominated by dislocation‐controlled power‐law mechanisms. At 800°C–900°C and lower stresses, creep is primarily diffusion‐controlled along cell boundaries.

Bioinspired Shape‐Memory Hook Fasteners With Programmable Interlocking and Silent Release

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Bioinspired hook fasteners made from epoxy shape‐memory polymers are shown to switch between strong, secure attachment and gentle, silent release when heated. By combining programmable geometry and material response, these adaptive fasteners outperform commercial systems in strength and noise control, enabling new solutions for robotics, medical ...

Beam theory of cellular microfilaments based on coarse-grained molecular force field

open access: yesResults in Physics
Microfilaments are the main component of the cell cytoskeleton and have a crucial influence on the morphology of living cells. The microfilaments provide mechanical support against applied loads and overcome competing forces that arise from various ...

Thermomechanical behaviour of cellular beams

open access: yes, 2017
