Femtosecond cellular transfection using a non-diffracting beam

SPIE Proceedings, 2008
Efficient DNA delivery into single living cells would be a very powerful capability for cell biologists for elucidating basic cellular functions but also in other fields such as applied drug discovery and gene therapy. The ability to gently permeate the cell membrane and introduce foreign DNA with the assistance of lasers is a powerful methodology but ...

Optical beam former for cellular CO-OFDM systems

2008 International Conference on Computing, Communication and Networking, 2008
In this paper, design and simulation of optical beam former for cellular coherent optical OFDM (CO-OFDM) system with high data rate is addressed. We first discuss the generation of CO-OFDM symbols and then present the MEMS (micro electro mechanical systems) based optical beam former.

Cellular range extension with narrow-beam antennas

Proceedings of 1997 Wireless Communications Conference, 2002
Replacing omni and sectorized antennas with narrow-beam smart antennas can extend cell site coverage. The improved coverage is due primarily to the higher gain provided by narrow-beam antennas. This extended range can fill coverage holes, improve handoffs, and reduce the number of new cell sites necessary to maintain service levels.

Tests on Composite Beams with Cellular Deck

Journal of the Structural Division, 1967
The results of tests on 15 composite beams with cellular metal decking, and 39 push-out tests are described. The influence of rib geometry on the load-deflection characteristics of the beams and on the maximum strength of the push-out specimens is shown. There is considerable improvement in strength and stiffness over the non-composite beams.

Cellular Fast-Mixing Techniques: Possible Applications with Particle Beams

Radiation Research, 1985
In the past cellular fast-mixing techniques have been used to investigate the time resolution of radiation processes that lead to modification of radiation response in bacterial and mammalian cellular systems. So far, published studies have been confined to effects with low-LET electron beams.
