Effect of corrugated panel geometry on the bending stiffness of engineered cellular timber beams

open access: yesDiscover Civil Engineering
Cellular structures offer a novel approach to achieving lightweight, high-performance structural beams. A critical factor influencing their bending stiffness is the configuration of the cellular structure, which is governed by the geometry of the ...

Behavior of Cellular Beams with Sinusoidal Openings

open access: yesProcedia Engineering, 2012
AbstractExperimental tests were conducted on full scale cellular beams with sinusoidal openings. The analysis of the experimental results showed two failure modes by the formation of four plastic hinges at the opening corners or by the local instability in the sinusoidal part of the opening.

Innovative Processing of Compacted Waste Aluminum Alloy Powders via Controlled Remelting and Solidification

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates an efficient recycling route for out‐of‐spec AlSi10Mg atomized powders through compaction and arc remelting followed by suction casting. By correlating compaction load, cooling rate, and resulting microstructure, we show that intermediate pressures (50–80 kN) and rapid cooling refine dendrites, reduce porosity, and enhance ...

EBSD Study of Creep‐Induced Lattice Misorientation in MgO‐Particle‐Reinforced Austenitic Steel Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Creep experiments at 900°C on coarse‐grained steel‐ceramic composites containing recycled magnesia reveal that higher ceramic volume fractions significantly enhance the creep resistance. Detailed EBSD investigations identify subgrain formation in the steel matrix as the dominant deformation mechanism.

Handbook of Establishing and Maintaining Oxygen‐Free Atmospheres

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a practical framework for creating oxygen‐free atmospheres at ambient pressure using silane‐doped inert gases. The results show that ultra‐low oxygen levels and strongly reduced water content can be achieved through controlled silane dosing, drying systems, and sensor monitoring.
