Composite Beam Incorporating Cellular Steel Decking

Journal of the Structural Division, 1969
RESULTS OF A TEST ON A COMPOSITE STEEL AND CONCRETE BEAM INCORPORATING A CELLULAR STEEL DECK ARE REPORTED. GOOD AGREEMENT BETWEEN MEASURED AND COMPUTED VALUES OF STRAIN AND DEFLECTION IS INDICATED PRIOR TO FIRST YIELDING. THE BEAM BEHAVED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE ELASTIC THEORY FOR COMPOSITE BEAMS WITH INCOMPLETE INTERACTION.

Developments in composite construction and cellular beams

Steel and Composite Structures, 2005
This paper describes recent developments in composite construction and their effect on codified design procedures in the UK. Areas of particular interest include: rules on shear connection, design of beams with web openings, serviceability limits, such as floor vibrations, and fire safe design.

Design of composite asymmetric cellular beams and beams with large web openings

Journal of Constructional Steel Research, 2006
Abstract The design of composite asymmetric cellular beams is not fully covered by existing guidance but is an area of important practical application. Asymmetry in the shape of the cross-section of cellular beams causes development of additional bending moments in the web-posts between closely placed openings.

Mechanical behavior of joints with cellular beams

2020

Femtosecond cellular transfection using a non-diffracting beam

SPIE Proceedings, 2008
Efficient DNA delivery into single living cells would be a very powerful capability for cell biologists for elucidating basic cellular functions but also in other fields such as applied drug discovery and gene therapy. The ability to gently permeate the cell membrane and introduce foreign DNA with the assistance of lasers is a powerful methodology but ...

Optical beam former for cellular CO-OFDM systems

2008 International Conference on Computing, Communication and Networking, 2008
In this paper, design and simulation of optical beam former for cellular coherent optical OFDM (CO-OFDM) system with high data rate is addressed. We first discuss the generation of CO-OFDM symbols and then present the MEMS (micro electro mechanical systems) based optical beam former.

Cellular range extension with narrow-beam antennas

Proceedings of 1997 Wireless Communications Conference, 2002
Replacing omni and sectorized antennas with narrow-beam smart antennas can extend cell site coverage. The improved coverage is due primarily to the higher gain provided by narrow-beam antennas. This extended range can fill coverage holes, improve handoffs, and reduce the number of new cell sites necessary to maintain service levels.
