In bulk nanofabrication, cellulose acetate reacts with an e-beam and permanent patterns are formed in it instead of being transferred to other substrates.

Journal of Immunological Methods, 1976A technique for the detection and demonstration of antigens or antibodies by means of countercurrent immunoelectrophoresis on cellulose acetate (CAM) is described. The method is simple, sensitive and rapid. There is no need for preliminary preparation. The samples are contained in wells punched in the CAM.

It consists of separating the proteins by conventional electrophoresis followed by immersion for a few minutes only in appropriate specific antiserum suitably diluted with barbitone buffer containing polyethylene glycol (PEG).
