A new smooth failure criterion for concrete inspired by Lubliner's condition

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract A new failure criterion with 10 parameters is proposed, based on Lubliner's idea of joining two Drucker–Prager cones. The novelty lies in the way of introducing deviatoric shape variation: through two Podgórski's functions. This feature allows for improving plane stress cross‐section's compatibility with experimental data.

Incremental upper bound modeling of concrete failures in timber‐concrete notched connections

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract This paper introduces a novel theoretical framework for developing incremental upper bound solutions, which is applied to predict the response of two local concrete failures in timber‐concrete composite (TCC) decks with notched connections. The new approach enables a prediction of the capacity at the onset of failure as well as the entire post‐

On the preservation of reinforced concrete architectural masterpieces: The challenges of the REcube project

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract The preservation of reinforced concrete masterpieces from the 20th century poses a complex challenge. These structures often combine architectural, historical, and technological value, which standard engineering codes and conservation practices are not fully equipped to address. The Erasmus+ REcube project responded to this gap by promoting an

Rheological study of interactions between MHEC and superplasticizers in aqueous solutions for applications in cement industry

open access: yes, 2011
Innovative cement-based materials are characterized today by rather complex formulations. In particular, when cement pastes are considered, their formulation generally includes two different types of polymers: a rheology modifier (RM) (typically a ...
