Predicting Atomic Charges in MOFs by Topological Charge Equilibration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An atomic charge prediction method is presented that is able to accurately reproduce ab‐initio‐derived reference charges for a large number of metal–organic frameworks. Based on a topological charge equilibration scheme, static charges that fulfill overall neutrality are quickly generated.

The cement-bone bond is weaker than cement-cement bond in cement-in-cement revision arthroplasty. A comparative biomechanical study

open access: yesPLOS ONE, 2021
This study compares the strength of the native bone-cement bond and the old-new cement bond under cyclic loading, using third generation cementing technique, rasping and contamination of the surface of the old cement with biological tissue. The possible advantages of additional drilling of the cement surface is also taken into account.

VIVID: A qPCR‐Based Platform for Sensitive and Quantitative In Vivo Tracking of Extracellular Vesicles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces VIVID (Vesicle In Vivo Identification using DNA), a qPCR‐based platform that tracks PCR‐amplifiable DNA tags loaded in the EVs for accurate and quantifiable EV biodistribution in vivo. ABSTRACT Extracellular vesicles (EVs) represent promising carriers for nucleic acid therapeutics, offering advantages over synthetic nanoparticles ...

Frictional behavior of talc-calcite mixtures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Faults involving phyllosilicates appear weak when compared to the laboratory-derived strength of most crustal rocks. Among phyllosilicates, talc, with very low friction, is one of the weakest minerals involved in various tectonic settings.

Toward Stable Multivalent Metal Batteries: Understanding the Interfacial Chemistry for Magnesium and Calcium Metal Anodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Interphase chemistry governs the stability of multivalent metal batteries. We summarize state‐of‐the‐art developments in calcium and magnesium metal batteries by focusing on the correlation among electrolytes, interphase layers, and the electrochemical performance of corresponding metal anodes.

Survey of the diagenesis process and effect these process on reservoir quality of the Kangan formation in South Pars Field [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Kangan and Upper Dalan formations are forming reservoir sequence of the South Pars field. Litology of the kangan formation is carbonate and (limestone and dolomite with anhydrite intervals), so digenetic processes were very active in this formation and ...

Co‐Electrospinning Extracellular Matrix with Polycaprolactone Enables a Modular Approach to Balance Bioactivity and Mechanics of a Multifunctional Bone Wrap

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The incorporation of nondigested ECM and synthetic polymers into a co‐electrospinning system enables the decoupling of bioactivity and mechanical properties within a single wrap. This technique is used to develop a multifunctional bone wrap that achieves augmented membrane durability, sustained infection control, and enhanced vascularity for use in ...

Petrologic evidence for earliest Miocene tectonic mobility on eastern Taranaki Basin margin [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
At Gibsons Beach on the west coast of central North Island, the earliest Miocene (Waitakian) Otorohanga Limestone, the top-most formation in the Te Kuiti Group, is unconformably overlain on an undulating, locally channelised erosion surface by the Early ...
