A Study on the Carbide Grain in the Cemented Titanium Carbides

open access: yesJournal of the Ceramic Association, Japan, 1962
The shape and the size of carbide grains in nickel bonded titanium carbides were studied by metallographical methods to confirm the influences of sintering atmosphere, temperature, and of the amount of metal binder on the nature of carbide grains. The carbide and nickel powders were mixed and ball-milled with methyl alcohol for 25 hours.

Compressive stresses in cemented carbide

open access: yes, 2013
This master thesis work aims towards gaining a deeper understanding of residualstresses in cemented carbide rock drill inserts. Compressive stresses are wanted inthe surface material since they prevent crack growth and wear of the material andthis work ...

Quantitative comparison of adhesive toughness for various diamond films on Co-cemented tungsten carbide

open access: yes, 2002
A new method of quantitative evaluation for the toughness of interface between thick diamond films and Co-cemented tungsten carbide (WC-Co) substrates is reported. This new method derives from the previously developed technique, which was applied for the

Rock penetration into cemented carbide drill buttons during rock drilling

open access: yes, 2008
In percussive and rotary percussive rock drilling, the rock is crushed into small fragments by the repeated hard impact of the drill bit, and subsequently removed by flushing water or air.
