Synchrotron strain scanning for residual stress measurement in cold-drawn steel rods [PDF]
Cold-drawn steel rods and wires retain significant residual stresses as a consequence of the manufacturing process. These residual stresses are known to be detrimental for the mechanical properties of the wires and their durability in aggressive ...

Cementite Formation in CH4-H2-Ar Gas Mixture and Cementite Stability.
Iron ore reduction/cementation by CH 4 -H 2 -Ar gas (35vol% CH 4 , 55vol% H 2 and 10 vol% Ar) was examined in a fixed bed reactor in the temperature range of 600-925°C. Iron oxides were first reduced to metallic iron and then iron was carburised to cementite.

The effect of hot-mounting for metallographic studies of as-quenched low-carbon martensitic steels has been studied. Hot-mounting is typically carried out at 150–200 °C, i.e., a low-temperature tempering regime. Cold- and hot-mounted specimens

Physical metallurgy of modern creep-resistant steel for steam power plants: microstructure and phase transformations [PDF]
The fact that the microstructure of steel depends on its composition and the heat treatment given to it has been heavily exploited in the design of steel for power plant applications.
