Nitrogen diffusion through cementite layers [PDF]
Massive cementite layers with a time-dependent thickness were grown on ferrite substrates by nitrocarburising in a dedicated NH3/H2/CO/N2 containing gas atmosphere at 783 K, 823 K and 843 K. Nitrogen diffusion through the cementite layer into the ferrite substrate took place in conjunction with growth of the cementite layer; a significant, i.e ...

This work uses high‐temperature dilatometry to examine how the tramp elements Cu, Ni, and Sn affect the deformability of non‐metallic inclusions and matrix in quench‐and‐temper steel. Mg‐bearing inclusions deform less than Mg‐free ones. Copper lowers formability. Nickel increases deformability.

EFFECT OF COPPER ON PASSIVITY AND CORROSION BEHAVIOR OF FE-XC-5CU ALLOY
The correlation between corrosion behavior rate of annealed Fe-xC-5Cu alloys and their microstructure and phase composition is presented. The metallurgical analyses, including, X-Ray diffraction (XRD), the scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with energy ...

Influence of boron content on the fracture toughness and fatigue crack propagation kinetics of bainitic steels [PDF]
The relatively good combination of high strength and ductility makes bainitic steels a candidate to replace many other steels in industrial applications. However, in service, ductility and strength are not up to standard requirements.

Paint baking of resistance spot welded joints of 2.0 GPa warm‐stamped medium‐Mn steel activates low‐temperature tempering, forming fine cementite in the fusion zone and enhancing toughness. Crack propagation resistance increases, shifting the failure mode from partial interfacial to complete pullout, with peak load and energy absorption rising ...

Intensive Improvement of Cementite Synthesis
Cementite extraordinary mechanical properties have drawn the attention of researchers in recent years. But, the limited methods for the production of this material, led to the production of iron with more than 2.1%wt carbon content beside free carbon by simultaneous thermal-mechanical activation of hematite and graphite mixture at 800°C for 6 hours in ...

Phonons and elasticity of cementite through the Curie temperature [PDF]
Phonon partial densities of states (pDOS) of ^(57)Fe_3 C were measured from cryogenic temperatures through the Curie transition at 460 K using nuclear resonant inelastic x-ray scattering.

This review explains how impurities from recycled scrap affect steel production and performance. Even small amounts (far below 1%) of these impurities can change how steel behaves during fabrication but also affect the properties of the end product. With better understanding and targeted countermeasures, these challenges can be managed, enabling wider ...

Precipitation Dynamics Analysis on Cementite in 0. 2 C-1.25 Si-2.0 Mn Q&P Steel
In order to study the effect of soaking process in critical zone of Q&P ( Queching and Partition) steel on the cementite precipitation during partitioning process, the PTT ( precipitation amount-temperature-time) curves of the cementite precipitation of ...
