Characterization of Buffelgrass (Cenchrus ciliaris L.) Germplasm Using DUS Descriptors

open access: yesInternational Journal of Plant & Soil Science, 2023
The present study was carried on thirty seven Cenchrus genotypes during rabi, 2022-23. Tweleve traits were recorded as per the descriptors provided by PPV & FRA and several genotypes possessed unique traits that aids in genotype identification. The traits viz.,Growth habit ,Anothcyanin coloration on nodes, Node colour, Leaf blade altitude, Leaf ...

Detecting and attributing climate change effects on vegetation: Australia as a test case

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Climate change is contributing to vegetation changes that threaten life support systems. Yet, inherent climatic variability and past and present human actions—such as clearing, burning and grazing regimes—also alter vegetation and complicate understanding of vegetation change. Australian ecosystems exemplify such complexity.

Soil wetting and drying processes influence stone artefact distribution in clay‐rich soils: A case study from Middle Gidley Island in Murujuga, northwest Western Australia

open access: yesArchaeometry, EarlyView.
Abstract Soils that contain swelling clay minerals (e.g., montmorillonite) expand and contract during wetting and drying, causing movement within the soil profile. This process, known as argilliturbation, can alter artefact distributions, destroy stratigraphy and complicate the interpretation of archaeological deposits.

Productivity and economics of ber (Ziziphus mauritiana) based horti-pasture system as influenced by integrated nutrient management under rainfed condition of Rajasthan

open access: yesThe Indian Journal of Agricultural Sciences, 2019
Awareness of food quality has shifted our focus on nutrient management system in crop production. Integrated nutrient management system resulted in good yield improvement and maintenance of soil health having least impact on food quality and environment.

Land tenure contributions to protected area growth under alternative conservation targets in the Australian monsoon tropics

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 40, Issue 1, February 2026.
Abstract As the global protected area (PA) network expands to meet international targets, it is important to assess whether traditional reliance on public land will suffice for projected PA growth or whether other tenures, such as Indigenous or pastoral lands, may increasingly contribute.

Population‐specific germination and physiochemical responses of Aeluropus lagopoides seeds to salinity under controlled conditions

open access: yesPlant Species Biology, Volume 41, Issue 1, January 2026.
Our findings show significant population‐specific variations in the germination and physiochemical responses of Aeluropus lagopoides seeds to salinity stress. Seeds from both populations were nondormant, as they germinated maximally in water; however, those from the more saline and drier Hawke's Bay habitat exhibited enhanced salt tolerance, higher ...
