Burn them all? Use and efficacy of fire as a tool for grassland restoration

open access: yesRestoration Ecology, Volume 33, Issue 7, September 2025.
Grassland ecosystems have suffered significant degradation and restoring them is fundamental to fight against climate change and biodiversity loss. Fire is an important component in the evolution and management of grasslands worldwide and can potentially be used to restore grasslands. In this paper, we present a systematic literature review to know how

Environmental and Spatial Drivers of Latrine Site Selection in Dorcas Gazelle

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 8, August 2025.
This study investigates the environmental and spatial factors influencing latrine site selection in dorcas gazelles within Sidi Toui National Park, Tunisia, using a non‐invasive latrine mapping approach. The findings reveal a structured spatial distribution, where latrines cluster in specific areas, influenced primarily by gazelle and predator ...

COLONIZACIÓN MICORRÍZICA ARBUSCULAR Y CRECIMIENTO DE GENOTIPOS DE PASTO BUFFEL (Cenchrus ciliaris)

open access: yesRevista Fitotecnia Mexicana, 2006

Phytotoxic Activity and Structure–Activity Relationships of Radicinin Derivatives against the Invasive Weed Buffelgrass (Cenchrus ciliaris)

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
Radicinin (1), is a fungal dihydropyranopyran-4,5-dione isolated together with some analogues, namely 3-epi-radicinin, radicinol, 3-epi-radicinol, and cochliotoxin (2–5), from the culture filtrates of the fungus Cochliobolus australiensis, a foliar ...

Morphological evaluation of buffelgrass cultivar “Lucero INTA-PEMAN” in drought conditions [PDF]

open access: yesRIA: Revista Investigaciones Agropecuarias, 2011
In searching for new cultivars that are better adapted to edapho-climatic constraints existing in northwestern Argentina, mainly drought and salinity stress, a hybrid of buffelgrass (Cenchrus ciliaris L.) named Lucero INTA PEMAN was obtained by ...

Transcriptomic Insights: Phytogenic Modulation of Buffel Grass (Cenchrus ciliaris) Seedling Emergence

open access: yesPlants
This study explores the impact of a novel phytogenic product containing citric acid, carvacrol, and cinnamaldehyde on buffel grass (Cenchrus ciliaris) seedling emergence. A dilution series of the phytogenic solution revealed a concentration range that promoted seedling emergence, with an optimal concentration of 0.5%.

Discriminating tropical grass (Cenchrus ciliaris) canopies grown under different nitrogen treatments using spectroradiometry

open access: yesISPRS Journal of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, 2003
Techniques for estimating and mapping pasture quality are critical for a better understanding of wildlife and livestock grazing patterns. Nitrogen is one of the most important elements that determine quality in plants. We assessed the potential to discriminate differences in nitrogen concentration using high-resolution reflectance by growing Cenchrus ...

Evolution of the apomixis transmitting chromosome in Pennisetum

open access: yesBMC Evolutionary Biology, 2011
Background Apomixis is an intriguing trait in plants that results in maternal clones through seed reproduction. Apomixis is an elusive, but potentially revolutionary, trait for plant breeding and hybrid seed production.
