Censored Bimodal Symmetric-Asymmetric Alpha-Power Model
We introduce the censored bimodal symmetric-asymmetric alpha-power models to adjust censored data with bimodality and high levels of skewness and kurtosis. The moments corresponding are computed, the maximum likelihood estimation for the model parameters

Hydroxychloroquine Associated With Lower Glomerular Filtration Rate Decline in Lupus Nephritis
Objective Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) protects kidney function in lupus nephritis (LN) by preventing flares, yet some cohort studies show no significant benefit in kidney function with HCQ. Clarifying these conflicting findings by showing early and long‐term benefits of HCQ on kidney function preservation is critical.

A Bayesian network offers powerful knowledge representations for independence, conditional independence and causal relationships among variables in a given domain. Despite its wide application, the detection limits of modern measurement technologies make

Principal Component Analysis (PCA) is a common exploratory tool used to evaluate large complex data sets. The resulting lower-dimensional representations are often valuable for pattern visualization, clustering, or classification of the data.

Consumption of Pork Products: Now and to the Year 2020 [PDF]
Data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s 1994-96 and 1998 Continuing Survey of Food Intakes by Individuals (CSFII) are used to describe pork consumption patterns as well as to estimate a censored demand system for pork cuts.

Long‐Term Opioids in Gout: A Matched Cohort Study From the Veterans Health Administration
Objective Though used frequently to treat flare, risk of long‐term opioid exposure in gout has not been well defined. In this study, we examined the hypothesis that people with gout are more likely than individuals without gout to be prescribed long‐term opioids over time.

Large Deviations for Censored Data
Large deviation properties of the Kaplan-Meier estimator are studied and applied to obtain the rate of exponential convergence of the estimator to the underlying survival curve.

Objective The aim of this study was to investigate the cost‐effectiveness of low‐dose colchicine prophylaxis for preventing gout flares when starting allopurinol using the “start‐low go‐slow” approach. Methods Participants with gout, fulfilling the American College of Rheumatology recommendations for starting urate‐lowering therapy and with serum urate

Objective We assessed whether circulating adipokines are associated with incident fractures in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Methods Three adipokines (adiponectin, leptin, and fibroblast growth factor [FGF]‐21) were measured using banked enrollment serum from participants in a longitudinal RA cohort.

Influence Functions for Censored Data
In this paper influence curves for censored data estimators are considered. The influence curve of the Kaplan-Meier estimate of survival time is calculated, and it is shown that the influence curve provides an alternative derivation of the asymptotic variance of this estimate.
