Estimation of stochastic traffic capacity using extreme value theory and censoring: A case study in Salem, New Hampshire [PDF]
In this work, we introduce a method of estimating stochastic freeway capacity using elements of both extreme value theory and survival analysis. First, we define capacity data, or estimates of the capacity of the roadway, as the daily maximum flow values.

Reliability and Inference for Multi State Systems: The Generalized Kumaraswamy Case
Semi-Markov processes are typical tools for modeling multi state systems by allowing several distributions for sojourn times. In this work, we focus on a general class of distributions based on an arbitrary parent continuous distribution function G with ...

Health-related factors on tobacco consumption in Turkey [PDF]
: In this study, we analyzed the role of individuals’ health-related factors along with socio-demographic and economic characteristics on both the likelihood of tobacco consumption and quantity demanded levels using two competitive econometric methods ...

ABSTRACT Background Pediatric sarcomas are a heterogeneous group of tumors that contribute disproportionately to cancer mortality in children. Although congenital anomalies are among the strongest known risk factors for childhood cancer, the risk of specific sarcoma subtypes among affected individuals has not yet been thoroughly evaluated. Procedure We

Fiducial Inference on the Right Censored Birnbaum–Saunders Data via Gibbs Sampler
In this article, we implement a flexible Gibbs sampler to make inferences for two-parameter Birnbaum–Saunders (BS) distribution in the presence of right-censored data.

Interrogating the immune landscape of microsatellite stable RAS‐mutated colon cancer
COLOSSUS project RAS‐mutated MSS colon cancer study explored transcriptomics and immune cell density by immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunoscore (IS), ISIC/TuLIS scores, mutation counts, and detected different prevalences but similar microenvironment composition across immune markers with clinical relevance for future immunotherapy combination ...

A Note on Weibull Parameter Estimation with Interval Censoring Using the EM Algorithm
In many engineering applications, it is often the case that the observations are only available in interval form. In this note, by using the expectation-maximization (EM) algorithm, the parameter estimation of the Weibull distribution with interval ...

Both cg12821679MAPRE3 methylation and MAPRE3 expression are significantly associated with overall survival (OS) of non‐small cell lung cancer. Meanwhile, MAPRE3 expression significantly modified the effect of smoking cessation on OS. Smoking cessation benefits OS merely for patients with high MAPRE3 expression.
