The center of monoidal 2-categories in 3+1D Dijkgraaf-Witten theory [PDF]

open access: bronzeAdvances in Mathematics, 2020
In this work, for a finite group $G$ and a 4-cocycle $ \in Z^4(G, \mathbf{k}^\times)$, we compute explicitly the center of the monoidal 2-category $\operatorname{2Vec}_G^ $ of $ $-twisted $G$-graded 1-categories of finite dimensional $\mathbf{k}$-vector spaces.

Drinfeld Center and Representation Theory for Monoidal Categories [PDF]

open access: greenCommunications in Mathematical Physics, 2016
Motivated by the relation between the Drinfeld double and central property (T) for quantum groups, given a rigid C*-tensor category C and a unitary half-braiding on an ind-object, we construct a *-representation of the fusion algebra of C. This allows us to present an alternative approach to recent results of Popa and Vaes, who defined C*-algebras of ...

On continuous 2-category symmetries and Yang-Mills theory

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2022
We study a 4d gauge theory U(1) N−1 ⋊ S N obtained from a U(1) N−1 theory by gauging a 0-form symmetry S N . We show that this theory has a global continuous 2-category symmetry, whose structure is particularly rich for N > 2.

Categorial compositionality: a category theory explanation for the systematicity of human cognition. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Computational Biology, 2010
Classical and Connectionist theories of cognitive architecture seek to explain systematicity (i.e., the property of human cognition whereby cognitive capacity comes in groups of related behaviours) as a consequence of syntactically and functionally ...

The sustainable semantic foundations of the traditional neighborhoods in the desert cities [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Human Capital in Urban Management, 2022
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: In cities with a hot and harsh climate, defining space and territory in a sustainable and environmentally manner in urban management and human capital is critical. Cultural values and climatic adaptation played a prominent role

Fundamental properties of rhythm sequences [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the American Society for Information Science and Technology, 2008
AbstractFundamental mathematical properties of rhythm sequences are studied. In particular, a set of three axioms for valid rhythm indicators is proposed, and it is shown that the R‐indicator satisfies only two out of three but that the R′‐indicator satisfies all three.

A mathematical theory of gapless edges of 2d topological orders. Part II

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 2021
This is the second part of a two-part work on the unified mathematical theory of gapped and gapless edges of 2+1D topological orders. In Part I, we have developed the mathematical theory of chiral gapless edges.

Set-valued data collection with local differential privacy based on category hierarchy

open access: yesMathematical Biosciences and Engineering, 2021
Set-valued data is extremely important and widely used in sensor technology and application. Recently, privacy protection for set-valued data under differential privacy (DP) has become a research hotspot.
