On continuous 2-category symmetries and Yang-Mills theory [PDF]
We study a 4d gauge theory U(1) N−1 ⋊ S N obtained from a U(1) N−1 theory by gauging a 0-form symmetry S N . We show that this theory has a global continuous 2-category symmetry, whose structure is particularly rich for N > 2.

A mathematical theory of gapless edges of 2d topological orders. Part I [PDF]
This is the first part of a two-part work on a unified mathematical theory of gapped and gapless edges of 2d topological orders. We analyze all the possible observables on the 1+1D world sheet of a chiral gapless edge of a 2d topological order, and show ...

Aspects of categorical symmetries from branes: SymTFTs and generalized charges [PDF]
Recently it has been observed that branes in geometric engineering and holography have a striking connection with generalized global symmetries. In this paper we argue that branes, in a certain topological limit, not only furnish the symmetry generators,

Drinfeld Center and Representation Theory for Monoidal Categories [PDF]
Motivated by the relation between the Drinfeld double and central property (T) for quantum groups, given a rigid C*-tensor category $${\mathcal{C}}$$C and a unitary half-braiding on an ind-object, we construct a *-representation of the fusion algebra of $

A lattice model for condensation in Levin-Wen systems [PDF]
Levin-Wen string-net models provide a construction of (2+1)D topologically ordered phases of matter with anyonic localized excitations described by the Drinfeld center of a unitary fusion category.

Curtis homomorphisms and the integral Bernstein center for GL_n [PDF]
We describe two conjectures, one strictly stronger than the other, that give descriptions of the integral Bernstein center for GL_n(F) (that is, the center of the category of smooth W(k)[GL_n(F)]-modules, for F a p-adic field and k an algebraically ...

An application of the DR-duality theory for compact groups to endomorphism categories of C*-algebras with nontrivial center [PDF]
In Rev. Math. Phys. 4 (1997) 785 we study Hilbert-C* systems {F,G} where the fixed point algebra A has nontrivial center Z and where A'\cap F=Z is satisfied.

Background: The dominant tradition in studying parents’ responses to their child’s hospitalization in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) is to focus on their immediate environment and their children’s well-being.
