Resolution of Stringy Singularities by Non-commutative Algebras [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
In this paper we propose a unified approach to (topological) string theory on certain singular spaces in their large volume limit. The approach exploits the non-commutative structure of D-branes, so the space is described by an algebraic geometry of non ...

On the Brauer groups of symmetries of abelian Dijkgraaf-Witten theories [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Symmetries of three-dimensional topological field theories are naturally defined in terms of invertible topological surface defects. Symmetry groups are thus Brauer-Picard groups.

The Graded Center of a Triangulated Category

open access: yes, 2015
With applications in mind to the representations and cohomology of block algebras, we examine elements of the graded center of a triangulated category when the category has a Serre functor.

Differential and holomorphic differential operators on noncommutative algebras [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This paper deals with sheaves of differential operators on noncommutative algebras, in a manner related to the classical theory of D-modules. The sheaves are defined by quotienting the tensor algebra of vector fields (suitably deformed by a covariant ...

Combining transient dynamics and logistic‐asymptotic growth to study the recovery of two seabird populations after rat eradication

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
This study examines the demographic dynamics of two seabird populations on Tromelin Island, 15 years after the eradication of brown rats. The results indicate that these populations are in good health and are expected to continue growing until breeding sites are saturated in about a century.

Frobenius and the derived centers of algebraic theories [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We show that the derived center of the category of simplicial algebras over every algebraic theory is homotopically discrete, with the abelian monoid of components isomorphic to the center of the category of discrete algebras. For example, in the case of

Secondary Linguistic Personality Development of a Foreign Student in Conditions of Natural Communication: Online Correspondence between Taiwanese Students and Native Russian Speakers

open access: yesВиртуальная коммуникация и социальные сети, 2022
The article deals with the linguadidactic modeling of online academic correspondence based on Yu. N. Karaulov’s theory of linguistic personality. The theory includes three fundamental linguadidactic questions: Who do you teach?, What do you teach?, and ...

Network topology drives population temporal variability in experimental habitat networks

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
Habitat patches connected by dispersal pathways form habitat networks. We explored how network topology affects population outcomes in laboratory experiments using a model species (Daphnia carinata). Central habitat nodes in complex lattice networks exhibited lower temporal variability in population sizes, suggesting they support more stable ...
