A Workflow to Accelerate Microstructure‐Sensitive Fatigue Life Predictions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a workflow to accelerate predictions of microstructure‐sensitive fatigue life. Results from frameworks with varying levels of simplification are benchmarked against published reference results. The analysis reveals a trade‐off between accuracy and model complexity, offering researchers a practical guide for selecting the optimal ...

Microstructural Evolution and Vacancy Defect Formation in Mn–Mo–Ni RPV Steel Under Low Cycle Fatigue: Insights From EBSD and PALS

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐cycle fatigue damage in Mn–Mo–Ni reactor pressure vessel steel is examined using a combined electron backscatter diffraction and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy approach. The study correlates texture evolution, dislocation substructure development, and vacancy‐type defect formation across uniform, necked, and fracture regions, providing

Experimental Investigation of Two-Phase Refrigerant Distribution in a Microchannel Manifold

open access: yes, 2006
The affects of microchannel protrusion, mass flux, quality and inlet distance on the distribution of two phase refrigerant R-134a was studied through a series of experiments conducted in two different horizontally oriented microchannel manifolds.

Existence and uniqueness of travelling wavefronts for a bio-reactor equations with distributed delays

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2007
We consider the diffusive single species growth in a plug flow reactor model with distributed delay. For small delay, existence and uniqueness of such wavefronts are proved when the convolution kernel assumes the strong generic delay kernel.

Field Report from Collaborative Research Center 1625: Heterogeneous Research Data Management Using Ontology Representations

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A unified research data management framework for heterogeneous materials data is presented. The system integrates multimodal datasets using ontologies and knowledge graphs, enabling interoperability and FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable) data principles. By linking data across scales and workflows, it supports reproducible, Artifitial

A Simple Proof of Stability on the Center Manifold for Hopf Bifurcation.

open access: yes, 1985
A simple proof is presented for a well known fact about Hopf bifurcation: if the loss of an equilibrium point results in periodic solutions via Hopf bifurcation, then the stability ot these periodic solutions is determined by their stability on an ...

A Simplified Laminar Flow Model for the Pultrusion of Glass Fiber/Polyethylene Terephthalate Commingled Yarns

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A simplified thermoplastic pultrusion model is developed to predict thermal fields in glass fiber/polyethylene terephthalate (GF/PET) composites with reduced computational cost. By combining effective material homogenization, validation against literature data, and Gaussian‐process‐based optimization, the study reveals how heating limits, pulling speed,
