Friction Correction Factors for Center-Pivots

Journal of Irrigation and Drainage Engineering, 1999
Analytical equations for friction correction factors for center-pivot laterals without end guns are developed. This work illustrates a discrepancy when earlier equations are applied to center-pivots with small numbers of outlets. Earlier equations were also limited to center-pivots with constant outlet spacing.

Center-Pivot Irrigation Position Alarm System

Applied Engineering in Agriculture, 1992
A position alarm system was designed, developed, and evaluated for use on a single tower, center-pivot irrigation system. The alarm system signals the operator when the pivot boom reaches an established position. The position of the pivot boom and tower can be determined within 0.62° when the direction of rotation is reversed (clockwise and counter ...

Power Sources for Center Pivot Irrigation

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1977
<div class="htmlview paragraph">The development of the center pivot irrigation system has allowed a level of process control not previously attainable in commercial agriculture. This form of irrigation now forms the dominant method for new lands going under irrigation.</div> <div class="htmlview paragraph">Consideration of alternative

Conatus: A Pivotal Doctrine At The Center Of The Ethics

2011
One may question the truth of the conatus principle and the soundness of the argumentation that Spinoza offers in its favor. There can be no question about the centrality of this doctrine for the Ethics . The concept of conatus smoothes the transition from the early discussion of the inertial force of simple bodies to the full-blown affective and ...

Demonstration of Intelligent Center Pivot Irrigation Technology

2014 ASABE Annual International Meeting, 2014
Abstract. Center pivot irrigation systems are predominantly designed to apply a relatively uniform amount of water to fields that are often inherently variable due to factors such as different soil types, topography, or multiple crops. This field variability can result in significantly waste of water and energy, runoff, chemical leaching, and ...

The Latest Technology in Center Pivot Irrigation Equipment

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1977
<div class="htmlview paragraph">The latest technological developments in center pivot irrigation equipment, a steerable Corner System and low pressure sprinkler systems, are reviewed. A scenario of the microprocessor controlled system of the 1980's is drawn, and the feasibility of center pivots performing additional farming operations is examined.

Variation of Center Pivot Operation with Field Slope

Transactions of the ASAE, 1979
ABSTRACT A mathematical model was developed that determines the influence of sloping ground on the operation of center pivot irrigation system pumping plants and the discharge of center pivot lateral nozzles. The model was used to analyze 29 pump-center pivot systems. With systems operating on a uniform uphill slope of 7 percent pump capacity decreases

Nozzling Considerations for Center Pivots with End Guns

Transactions of the ASAE, 1983
ABSTRACT THIS paper provides a technique for analyzing end gun applications on center pivots and looks specifically at several typical situations where they can be used. By use of field verified computer computational techniques, the effect of cycling an end gun on and off was studied in depth for a typical center pivot condition for considertion in ...

Corrosive Ground Water Treatment for Center Pivots

Applied Engineering in Agriculture, 1987
CORROSIVE ground water can drastically reduce the useful life of a center pivot irrigation system. A number of treatment systems were reviewed as potential solutions to the corrosive water problem. Based on this evaluation, a treatment system was developed and tried on three irrigation systems.
