1-Segment Center Problems

ORSA Journal on Computing, 1992
We consider a minimax facility location problem for n points such that the facility is a line segment of a given length. The general problem can be solved by case analysis in O(n4 log n) time. When the orientation of the segment is fixed, the problem is shown to be linear-time solvable by using the prune-and-search technique.

Center conditions III: Parametric and model center problems

Israel Journal of Mathematics, 2000
We consider an Abel equation (*)y’=p(x)y2 +q(x)y3 withp(x), q(x) polynomials inx. A center condition for (*) (closely related to the classical center condition for polynomial vector fields on the plane) is thaty0=y(0)≡y(1) for any solutiony(x) of (*).Folowing [7], we consider a parametric version of this condition: an equation (**)y’=p(x)y2 +εq(x)y3p ...

Problem-Centered Psychotherapy

Psychological Reports, 1987
Research and clinical experience suggest that no one treatment modality (e.g., behavioral, cognitive, exploratory) is effective with all psychological problems. Some problems are more effectively dealt with by one or the other treatment approach. Clinicians, however, are generally trained to offer only one approach; this means that the patient is ...
