3D Interactive Centerline Extraction

open access: yesThe MIDAS Journal, 2008
This document describes a user-steered method to interactively track centerlines of tubular objects in 3D space. The method is developed as a plug-in of ImageJ using Java language. To evaluate the tracking ability and tracking accuracy, this method has been applied to coronary artery tracking in coronary CT angiography data.

Road Extraction in SAR Images Using Ordinal Regression and Road-Topology Loss

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2021
The road extraction task is mainly composed of two subtasks, namely, road detection and road centerline extraction. As the road detection task and road centerline extraction task are strongly correlated, in this paper, we introduce a multitask learning ...

A Topology Optimization Framework for the Inverse Design of Nonlinear Mechanical Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work uses topology optimization to design unit cells for mechanical metamaterials with a prescribed nonlinear stress–strain response. The framework adds contact and postbuckling modeling to synthesize microstructures for three highly nonlinear responses, including pseudoductile behavior, monostable with snap‐through buckling, and bistable ...

Paracrine Factor Local Gradient‐Generating System for Engineering Perfusable Vascularized Hepatocyte Tissues with Perfusion‐Induced Proliferation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A paracrine factor local gradient (PFLG)‐generating system enables microvessel penetration across 3D hepatocyte tissues. The resulting vascularized constructs recapitulate hepatic sinusoidal hepatocyte—endothelial contact architecture and enhance hepatic functions in vitro.

Panoramic Image Generation Using Centerline- Constrained Mesh Parameterization for Arbitrarily Shaped Tunnel Lining

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Three-dimensional (3D) triangular meshes has been widely used in tunnel engineering. This paper proposes an algorithm for unwrapping 3D tunnel lining meshes into straight two-dimensional (2D) meshes to generate a 2D seamless panoramic image of the tunnel

Chirality Transfer via Orientational Order of Micellar Assemblies on Gold Nanocrystals

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A mechanism for chiral growth of Au nanocrystals mediated by orientational order of chiral micelles at seed surfaces is demonstrated. 3D electron microscopy and molecular dynamics simulations reveal how alignment of the micelles along crystal directions and torsion–orientation coupling govern chirality transfer, providing a framework to rationalize ...

In Situ Copper Electroplating Turns Material Extrusion 3D Printers Into Metal–Polymer Hybrid Fabricators

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
An in situ electroplating approach for MEX 3D printing is proposed, enabling copper deposition during the fabrication of conductive polymers. The method combines a printer‐integrated plating head, ML‐based g‐code control, and stop‐and‐go printing, achieving near‐bulk copper conductivity and enabling fully embedded, assembly‐free electronic components ...
