Middle Triassic turbidites in the Youjiang Basin were chiefly derived from a Late Palaeozoic continental arc along the southeastern South China Block, as revealed by detrital zircon U–Pb geochronology and tourmaline geochemistry, supporting a tectonic model driven by Paleo‐Pacific subduction rather than Paleo‐Tethyan closure.

Abstract The slab breakoff model is a preferred geodynamic interpretation for post‐collisional exhumation and associated magmatic flare‐ups. In this study, rutile U–Pb dating of retrograde eclogites revealed distinct stages of exhumation along the Paleo‐Tethyan sutures in southwest China.
