AN IMPACT ASSESSMENT OF NEGATIVE INTEREST RATES OF CENTRAL BANKS

open access: yesEkonomika, 2017
The central bank community has been split into those who started to employ negative interest rates (NIR) and those who do not intend to do so, irrespective of the similarity of the economic situation.

Mass spectrometry based identification of AMP‐O‐Tris generated by Thermococcus onnurineus Cas10

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Isolated Thermococcus onnurineus Cas10 generates the noncanonical ATP‐derived product AMP‐O‐Tris while in Tris‐containing buffer as identified via mass spectrometry, revealing relaxed nucleophile selectivity under isolated conditions. These findings suggest that multiprotein Csm complex assembly restricts Cas10 reactivity toward canonical cyclic ...

Suppression of lung adenocarcinoma migration through organelle alkalization by human lactoferrin – albumin fusion

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This paper reveals how human lactoferrin–albumin fusion (hLF‐HSA) potently suppresses lung adenocarcinoma cell migration. hLF‐HSA upregulates NHE7, leading to Golgi alkalization, disruption of the Golgi secretome, downregulation of MMP1, and reversal of EMT. These findings suggest a novel Golgi‐targeting strategy to suppress cancer cell migration.

"Why Central Banks (and Money) Rule the Roost" [PDF]

open access: yes
Some have argued that a significant decrease in the demand for money, due to financial innovations, could imply that central banks are unable to implement effective monetary policies.

Herding Behaviour of Central Banks: Following the Fed and ECB

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Business Science and Technology, 2017
I apply interest rate rules, especially the Taylor rule, to identify basic determinants of the central banks' decision-making process. The results confirmed herding behaviour related to the central bank financial assets and its economic power in the US ...

Derivation and characterization of retinal pigment epithelium from urine‐derived iPSCs

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Age‐related macular degeneration causes vision loss via RPE dysfunction and loss. Traditional iPSC therapies rely on invasive biopsies, limiting scalability. Here, we utilize urine‐derived stem cells as an accessible source to generate u‐iPSCs, successfully differentiated into pigmented RPE. This “Urine‐to‐Retina” platform provides a promising path for

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...
