Color Routing and Beam Steering of Single‐Molecule Emission with a Spherical Silicon Nanoantenna

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We experimentally demonstrate broadband directional emission from single molecules using a single spherical silicon nanoparticle assembled via DNA origami. By varying nanoparticle (NP) size and emitter position, we achieve unidirectional emission, beam steering, and color routing at the nanoscale, revealing modal interference as the underlying ...

Evaluation of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) as a measure of cell wall degradation during enzymatic treatment of microalgae [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The feasibility of using Dissolved Organic Carbon (DOC) measurements as a means to assess the efficacy of an enzyme-assisted pretreatment on the recovery of lipids from microalgae was investigated.

Uncovering the Origin of Efficiency Roll‐Off in TADF OLEDs

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
OLEDs based on thermally activated delayed fluorescent (TADF) materials often suffer from a severe drop in efficiency at high brightness levels. This work presents a technique to uncover the source of this efficiency drop, and quantifies the exciton‐exciton and exciton‐polaron annihilation processes responsible for efficiency losses in our TADF OLEDs ...

Dispensing Volumetric Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Dispensing volumetric additive manufacturing (DVAM) prints 3D structures inside a photocurable resin droplet suspended from the tip of a glass pipette, enabling sequential printing without resin vats or manual part removal. Real‐time droplet profiling and ray‐tracing‐based correction compensate for optical distortion at the curved resin‐air interface ...

Quantification of metallic copper and nickel in their binary mixtures by voltammetry of immobilized microparticles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We report the use of voltammetry of immobilized microparticles for the quantification of metallic copper and nickel in their binary mixtures. Twenty-two electrolytes were investigated in order to obtain well-separated oxidation peaks.

Speckle‐Engineered Upconversion Amplification in Nanoemulsion‐Templated Hydrogel Microdomes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Nanoemulsion‐confined PEGDA microdomes generate speckle‐like excitation fields that strongly amplify upconversion luminescence upon dehydration, enabling filter‐free visible readout with reversible on–off switching. DMD‐based lithography yields scalable, shape‐programmable arrays for moisture‐responsive displays and optical encryption.

Central Composite Design for Optimization of Kenaf-Reinforced Epoxy Composite Bonding Performance

open access: yesBioResources, 2023
Kenaf fiber is gaining prominence because of its ability as a natural-based reinforced material in advanced composites. However, kenaf contains a hygroscopic natural waxy substance that covers the fiber layer, providing a low surface tension and ...

Optimization of Growth and Carotenoid Production by Haloferax mediterranei Using Response Surface Methodology

open access: yesMarine Drugs, 2018
Haloferax mediterranei produces C50 carotenoids that have strong antioxidant properties. The response surface methodology (RSM) tool helps to accurately analyze the most suitable conditions to maximize C50 carotenoids production by haloarchaea.

Development of an innovative method to predict and to characterize the performances of Ti-6Al-4V LBW joints [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Every manufacturing process leaves on the surface of the piece a typical "technology signature". In particular, the laser welding leaves a feature at the edge of the weld bead called "undercut". In this work an experimental campaign has been conducted on

Elucidating the Role of Surface Ligands on the Oxidative Etching of Au Bipyramids During Photothermia Using Liquid Cell Transmission Electron Microscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Gold bipyramids can act as efficient plasmonic nanoheaters, but they often reshape during laser heating. This study shows that oxygen nanobubbles drive oxidative etching and that surface ligands control stability. CTAB‐ and citrate‐coated particles blunt and lose optical performance, whereas polystyrene sulfonate preserves shape and heating by ...
