This study identifies a link between periodontitis and CRC progression mediated by carnosine‐enriched circulating EVs. These EVs target the intestine and elevate tumour cell intracellular pH (pHi), which rescues lysosomal function. This process drives a transition from dysfunctional lysosomes to functional ones, promoting a high malignancy phenotype in

ABSTRACT Eosinophilia, defined as an absolute eosinophil count (AEC) of ≥ 0.5 × 109/L, is a frequently encountered finding with a vast spectrum of potential underlying etiologies. Hypereosinophilia (HE) is defined as AEC > 1.5 × 109/L and may become life‐threatening when eosinophil‐induced organ damage occurs, defining the hypereosinophilic syndrome ...

Common pathways and outliers in glucose catabolism across Trypanosomatidae
Trypanosomatid parasites, including Trypanosoma sp., Leishmania sp., Phytomonas sp., and Vickermania sp., share a common motif: a metabolism built around the glycosome, a unique peroxisome‐derived organelle housing the first steps of glycolysis. Yet, these organisms have evolved remarkably diverse strategies to catabolize glucose, excreting distinct ...

Mitochondrial iron homeostasis is required for azole tolerance in Candida albicans
In Candida albicans, the deletion of MRS4, which encodes a mitochondrial iron importer, abolishes fluconazole tolerance and increases cidality during cotreatment with the iron chelator BPS, without altering MIC or synergy. Fluconazole‐treated mutants exhibit increased mitochondrial depolarisation, fragmentation and reduced mitochondrial density.

ABSTRACT Aims This cross‐sectional ‘case–control’ pilot study aimed to compare the size of periodontal wounds, periodontal status and total inflammatory burden between pregnant women with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) and non‐diabetic pregnant women. Methods Fifteen T1DM pregnant women and 15 healthy pregnant women were included. Clinical parameters (
