[Lateglacial and Holocene vegetation history in the mountain range of central Pyrenees].

open access: yesComptes rendus biologies, 2004
We present the pollen analysis of a new sedimentary sequence taken at La Pouretère ( 1720 m), in the mountain vegetation zone of the Marcadau valley (central Pyrenees). The Lateglacial and Holocene chronology is supported by six 14C-dating results. The complementary analysis of some vegetal macroremains, stomata, pollen-clusters and the use of pollen ...

Temperature‐Controlled Radiofrequency for Severe Nasal Airway Obstruction: A Non‐Inferiority Comparison With Surgical Intervention

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Temperature‐controlled radiofrequency (TCRF), septoplasty (ST) with turbinate reduction, and functional rhinoplasty (FR) are treatment options for nasal airway obstruction (NAO) and nasal valve dysfunction (NVD), but no direct comparison of these procedures has been performed. Methods This prospective, open‐label, non‐inferiority (

Lysyl Oxidase Reduces Neutrophil Extravasation in Response to P. aeruginosa in an Infection‐on‐a‐Chip Model

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
Lysyl oxidase crosslinking of type I collagen decreases neutrophil extravasation through an endothelium during the initial response to P. aeruginosa. This decrease in extravasation is likely due to the increase in VE‐cadherin expression between endothelial cells seeded on LOX‐crosslinked collagen hydrogels.

Diameter-Age Relationships of Two Species of Mountain Mahogany

open access: yes, 1980
Diameter-age relationships of two species of mountain mahogany (true mountain mahogany and curlleaf mountain mahogany) were investigated. Data were taken from populations of true mountain mahogany in the Laramie Basin of Wyoming (Brooks 1962) and the ...

Off‐target metagenomics: Leveraging whole genome sequencing to study the bacteriome of the liverwort Calasterella californica

open access: yesApplications in Plant Sciences, EarlyView.
Abstract Premise The recovery of non‐target organism reads, especially when whole organisms are sampled, constitutes a great opportunity for studying microbial communities. The increase in whole genome sequencing feasibility and the development of new marker‐based pipelines enable the use of short reads to study bacterial communities associated with ...

Winter Home Range and Habitat Use of the Virginia Northern Flying Squirrel (Glaucomys sabrinus fuscus)

open access: yes, 2009
We radio-tracked two male and one female Virginia northern flying squirrels (Glaucomys sabrinus fuscus) in the Allegheny Mountains of West Virginia at Snowshoe Mountain Resort, in winter 2003 and Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge in winter 2004 ...

In‐vitro puncture experiment using alligator teeth tracks the formation of dental microwear and its association with hardness of the diet

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract With the development of dental microwear texture analysis (DMTA), there has been an increasing application of DMTA for dietary estimation in extant and fossil reptiles, including dinosaurs. While numerous feeding experiments exist for herbivorous mammals, knowledge remains limited for carnivorous reptiles. This study aimed to qualitatively and

The relationship between form and function of the carnivore mandible

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Dietary morphology diversified extensively in Carnivoraformes (living Carnivora and their stem relatives) during the Cenozoic (the last 66 million years) as they evolved to capture, handle, and process new animal and plant diets. We used 3D geometric morphometrics, mechanical advantage, and finite element analysis to test the evolutionary ...

Tornadic Storm over the Foothills of Central Nepal Himalaya

open access: yesMeteorology
On the evening of 31 March 2019, Parsa and Bara Districts in central Nepal were severely hit by a wind storm which was the first documented tornadic incidence in Nepal. In this paper, we investigate the background of the tornado formation via numerical ...
