Pigmented central neurocytoma

Acta Neuropathologica, 2004
Central neurocytoma is a low-grade neuronal neoplasm that occurs most often within the lateral ventricles. We report the case of a 60-year-old woman who presented with gait problems, headache and memory loss. Preoperative evaluation demonstrated a heterogeneous, hypervascular and partially cystic mass in the left lateral ventricle.

Recurrent central neurocytomas

Cancer, 2005
AbstractBACKGROUNDSince the first description of Central neurocytomas (CNs) as a benign tumor entity in 1982, there has been great enthusiasm regarding the benign course and the curative surgical approach to this disease. The current study was performed to investigate the frequency of disease recurrence during long‐term follow‐up.METHODSA retrospective

Revista de neurologia, 1998
A central neurocytoma (CN) is a rare tumor, of neuronal origin, well-differentiated and found intraventricularly. It mainly affects young adults. Firm diagnosis is made on immunohistochemical (IHQ) and ultrastructural studies, since on optic microscopy it is similar in appearance to an oligodendroglioma or to an ependymoma. We studied 4 cases, three ...

Differentiating central neurocytoma

Journal of Neurosurgery, 1997
✓ In 1976 a patient underwent partial resection of an intraventricular tumor that showed central neurocytoma. No other tumor pattern was observed. In 1994 this patient underwent a second operation for removal of the tumor, at which time foci of tumor were diagnosed as central neurocytoma and ganglioglioma.

Central Neurocytoma and Extraventricular Neurocytoma

2009
A low-grade (WHO 2007, grade II) ventricular (central neurocytoma) or extraventricular tumor composed of a monomorphic population of uniform round neurocytic cells. More common in the lateral and third ventricles but may occur in the fourth ventricle and extraventricular sites including the cerebral hemispheric parenchyma and spinal cord.

Harefuah, 1996
4 cases of central neurocytoma are reported. Sex distribution was symmetrical, average age at presentation was 29.7 years, and duration of symptoms varied from 1 day to 5 years. Headache and nausea were the most frequent symptoms; 1 patient was asymptomatic, 3 tumors were located in the left lateral ventricle and 1 in the third ventricle.

Neuroradiology of central neurocytoma

Neuroradiology, 1991
Central neurocytomas (CN) are rare, usually benign cerebral intraventricular neuroepithelial tumors, which occur in adult patients. Retrospective evaluation of the CT- and MRI-findings in eight cases as well as review of the cases reported in the literature showed that CN usually presents as a primarily slightly hyperdense and/or hyperintense mass ...

Central Neurocytomas

Neurosurgery Quarterly, 2012
Objective:Neurocytomas (NCs) comprise a rare but distinct clinicopathologic entity, often with a benign course. Our operative series of 33 patients with NCs attempts to review the clinical characteristics of this rare entity.Method:Retrospective analysis of the case records of all the patients ...
