Reproductive phases of Miocene algae from central Paratethys and their bearing on systematics [PDF]

open access: yesActa Palaeontologica Polonica, 2019
Coralline algae were widespread in shallow-water environments during the middle Miocene in the central Paratethys. Their distribution and diversity patterns are useful in paleoenvironmental and paleoclimatic studies providing that species identifications

Chondrichthyan (Holocephali, Squalomorphii and Batomorphii) remains from the Badenian of southern Hungary (Tekeres, Mecsek Mountains): the first deepwater cartilaginous fishes from the Middle Miocene of the Central Paratethys

open access: yesPapers in Palaeontology, 2022
Middle Miocene (Badenian) chondrichthyan fossils collected from the Tekeres Schlieren Member of the Baden Formation at Tekeres (southern Hungary, Mecsek Mts) are described here.

Investigation of the possible role of the Central Paratethys as a migration route and speciation area of the ancestors of Mediterranean Larroussius, Paraphlebotomus and Phlebotomus species

open access: yesPalaeobiodiversity and Palaeoenvironments, 2022
The Oligocene and Miocene tectonic and biogeographical alterations of the peri-Mediterranean area could strongly impact the speciation processes and migrations of Mediterranean sandfly species.

Reshaping the understanding of the paratethys using paleogeographic reconstructions and geochronology studies [PDF]

open access: yesGeološki Anali Balkanskoga Poluostrva
The history of the Paratethys and its inhabiting organisms was profoundly influenced by its connections with the Global Ocean. As the sea‐straits linking Paratethys with the ocean expanded, they integrated the Paratethys with the global ocean, causing ...

Litho- and biostratigraphic data of lower-middle Miocene sections in the Transylvanian basin and SE Carpathian Foredeep (Romania)

open access: yesData in Brief, 2019
Litho- and biostratigraphic data are provided of 5 stratigraphic sections in Romania covering the “Badenian” marine flooding that occurred in the Central Paratethys during the middle Miocene (Langhian).

Geology of the Čoka structure in northern Banat (Central Paratethys, Serbia)

open access: yesGeologica Carpathica, 2010
Geology of the Čoka structure in northern Banat (Central Paratethys, Serbia)The Čoka structure is a fault-bounded anticline in northern Banat, in the southern part of the Neogene Pannonian Basin. The structure and its vicinity were explored by 24 wells.

THE DEEPWATER BONY FISH FAUNA FROM THE LATE BADENIAN (SERRAVALLIAN) OF WALBERSDORF, AUSTRIA - RECONSTRUCTED WITH OTOLITHS

open access: yesRivista Italiana di Paleontologia e Stratigrafia
Otolith associations have been extensively described from the Badenian (Langhian to early Serravallian) of the Central Paratethys. During the late Badenian (early Serravallian), the basin was strongly segmented, and the faunal composition of its biota ...

Various marginal marine environments in the Central Paratethys: Late Badenian and Sarmatian (middle Miocene) marine and non-marine microfossils from Pécs-Danitzpuszta, southern Hungary

open access: yesFoldtani Kozlony, 2021
The middle Miocene foraminifera and ostracod record of the Central Paratethys usually reflects stable normal marine epositional environments for the Badenian and more patchy, less stable restricted marine environments for the Sarmatian.

New data on the stratigraphy of Badenian from Krčedin area (Northern Serbia, Central Paratethys) [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Natural History Museum, 2020
Badenian sediments are found for the first time in the surroundings of the Krcedin village. They represent remnants of the Central Paratethys marginal sea. The sediments are represented by a basal conglomerate unit overlain by pure and sandy marl. Foraminifera and rare ostracods are present, limited to the marls.

Upper Badenian diatom paleoecology of the western part of Central Paratethys

open access: yesGeologija, 2003
In the western part of Central Paratethys, on the territory of Slovenia, the Upper Badenian diatoms occur only in the Kr{ko basin. The diatom paleoecology of the Upper Badenian beds suggests their deposition in the marine littoral, in warm to moderatelywarm water of depth less than 100 meters and of salinity above 30 ‰.The frequency of resting spores ...
