Paleomagnetism of the Carboniferous Tepuel Group, central Patagonia, Argentina

open access: yesTectonics, 1994
Samples of the Carboniferous glaciogenic sequences of the Tepuel Group, western central Patagonia, Argentina, were collected from 23 sites in two localities, Sierra de Tepuel (43.7°S, 70.5°W) and Las Salinas (43.2°S, 70.3°W). Most were fine sandstones to siltstones of late Visean to Westphalian age.

Lower Jurassic to Early Paleogene Intraplate Contraction in Central Patagonia

open access: yes, 2018
Breakup and dispersion stages of Gondwana were ruled by crustal extension. In Patagonia, this regime was associated with the opening of extensional basins from the Jurassic onward, a process that was interrupted by the Andean Orogeny. New data generated from the hydrocarbon exploration allowed identifying Jurassic to Eocene contractional deformations ...

Lower Permian bivalves from central Patagonia, Argentina

Paläontologische Zeitschrift, 2006
The earliest Permian faunal successions of central Patagonia show compositional changes that probably reflected the environmental warming at the end of the Gondwana glaciations. Bivalves of Asselian to probably Early Tastubian age are described. A new genus,Sueroa, is proposed to reunite a previously known species and a new species,Sueroa andreisi n ...

Hunting Techniques Along the Rain Shadow Gradient in North-Central Patagonia, Argentina

2021
The forest and the steppe of North-Central Patagonia (Argentina) are contiguous yet contrasting environments that have been connected throughout their peopling history. Human occupation began in the early Holocene, became more regular ca. 3500 years BP, and has increased since 2200–1700 years BP.

Environmental impacts on offspring survival during the lambing period in central Patagonia

International Journal of Biometeorology, 1999
Weather conditions are the main factors affecting the survival rate of newborn lambs. In the windy climate of Patagonia, the influence of weather conditions is exacerbated as the wind speed increases noticeably in spring. If the wind increases faster than the temperature rises, wind chill conditions worsen temporarily.
