The Geography of Success: A Spatial Analysis of Export Intensity in the Italian Wine Industry

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper investigates the paradox of how Italy's fragmented, SME‐dominated wine industry achieves global export success. Moving beyond purely firm‐centric explanations, we test whether export intensity is spatially dependent, clustering geographically in regional ecosystems.

Green urbanization efficiency of 18 urban agglomerations in China: Evidence from spatial–temporal evolution

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2023
As a highly developed spatial form of integrated cities, urban agglomeration has become an important fulcrum for promoting economic development and regional growth. Green urban efficiency is the key to achieving green growth in a country.

Table_1_Unraveling spatiotemporal patterns and multiple driving factors of surface ozone across China and its urban agglomerations management strategies.DOC [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Since State Council launched the Action Plan for Air Pollution Prevention and Control in 2013, national concentration of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) has continued to decline in China, while surface ozone (O3) pollution shows an obvious rise.

Do More Open Economies Export Less Diversely in Brazilian Agribusiness?

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper asks whether municipalities with a larger export‐to‐revenue ratio display a more concentrated bundle of exported goods in Brazilian agribusiness. Recent advances in export imputation for Brazilian municipalities allow for an analysis of the concentration profile of each municipality and its association with export openness.

Autonomous X‐Ray Fluorescence Mapping for Nanoscale Chemical Speciation of Fine Particulate Matter

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
We present X‐AutoMap, an autonomous X‐ray fluorescence mapping framework that integrates real‐time analysis with rule‐based computer vision to selectively target chemically relevant regions. By avoiding background‐dominated areas, the method reduces acquisition time by fourfold while enabling accurate particle‐level speciation.

Intelligent Manufacturing, Industrial Agglomeration, and Green and Low‐Carbon Development: A Nonlinear Path Test Based on the Theory of Ecological Modernization

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Drawing upon ecological modernization theory as the analytical framework, this study employs macro‐level longitudinal tracking data covering China's major regions as research samples. It measures the green and low‐carbon development (GLCD) of manufacturing from the four dimensions—“carbon reduction, pollution mitigation, ecological expansion ...

Corporate ESG Greenwashing: Does Regulatory Proximity Matter?

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) greenwashing undermines sustainable development, yet the influence of regulatory proximity on oversight is understudied. By introducing the “distance decay effect” from geoeconomics into ESG misconduct research and using a sample of Chinese listed firms from 2009 to 2022, this study reveals a ...

Automating Sustainability: How Climate Action Unlocks the ESG Potential of Industrial Robotics

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The convergence of Industry 4.0 and global sustainability goals presents a critical paradox: while automation drives efficiency, its net impact on comprehensive environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance remains contested. This study investigates the relationship between industrial robot and country‐level ESG performance across 63
