[Central precocious puberty].

Annales de pediatrie, 1990
Diagnosis of the central origin of precocious puberty is easy in boys on the enlargement of the testes. In girls, conversely, diagnosis of central precocious puberty (CPP) may be difficult, as isolated development of the breast may initially be the only feature.

Diagnosis of Central Precocious Puberty: Endocrine Assessment

Journal of Pediatric Endocrinology and Metabolism, 2000
The new methods which are currently available have provided substantial help in performing the differential diagnosis of CPP, especially in detecting very early modifications of gonadotropin secretion. Nocturnal sampling is not a practical tool and generates discomfort for patients, and daytime samples do not yet have sufficient sensitivity; thus ...

Precocious puberty in children with tumours of the suprasellar and pineal areas: Organic central precocious puberty

Acta Paediatrica, 2001
During the past 11 y, 115 children younger than 8/9 y of age (female/male) with tumours of the suprasellar or pineal areas were followed in our clinic to study the incidence of precocious puberty. In addition, type of central lesion, clinical characteristics and gonadotropic secretion were studied in order to elucidate the different mechanisms of ...

Effects of leuprolide in the treatment of central precocious puberty

The Journal of Pediatrics, 1989
Leuprolide acetate (D-Leu6 des-Gly-NH2(10), Pro-ethylamide9), a synthetic non-apeptide analog of naturally occurring gonadotropin releasing hormone, was used to treat 62 children with central precocious puberty. Sex steroid levels (testosterone in boys and estradiol in girls) were suppressed during treatment lasting from 3.5 to 24.9 months.

Central Precocious Puberty: Clinical and Imaging Aspects

Journal of Pediatric Endocrinology and Metabolism, 2000
We review briefly the definition of central precocious puberty (CPP), and discuss early puberty and very early puberty. The association of hypothalamic hamartoma and empty sella with CPP is described. The contribution of new imaging techniques - CT, MRI and ultrasound in the differential diagnosis of CPP is discussed.

Central precocious puberty: clinical and laboratory features*

Clinical Endocrinology, 2001
To determine whether the initial presentation of patients with central precocious puberty (CPP) varies according to the aetiology, whether this permits the differentiation between idiopathic and organic forms, and whether the body mass index (BMI) and plasma leptin concentrations are linked to gonadotrophin secretion. The clinical and laboratory ...
