Dynamic aiming strategy for central receiver systems
Renewable Energy, 2021Abstract Aiming strategies in central receiver systems search for an optimal assignment between heliostats and aim point on the receiver surface. In this work, we develop an accelerated aiming strategy which can be used for dynamic scenarios such as short-term environmental influences. The strategy bases on the linear formulation of the problem.

Modelling strategies for porous structures as solar receivers in central receiver systems: A review
Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, 2019Abstract An international effort is being made to contribute to greener electricity production. Solar Thermal Electricity (STE) has emerged as the favourite candidate due to the advantages associated with it such as dispatchability, maturity and scalability. Particular interest is raised by Central Receiver Systems (CRSs) due to their ability to work

Volumetric receivers in Solar Thermal Power Plants with Central Receiver System technology: A review
Solar Energy, 2011Abstract Deployment of the first generation of grid-connected plants for electricity production, based on Solar Thermal Power Plants with Central Receiver System technology using large heliostat fields and a solar receiver placed on the top of a tower, is currently being boosted by the first commercial plants in Spain, PS10, PS20, and Gemasolar ...

Efficiency determination of tubular solar receivers in central receiver systems
Solar Energy, 2016Abstract This paper describes a method for the efficiency determination of a cavity receiver using the example of the solar hybrid gas turbine system SOLUGAS. Major focus is given on the improvement of a new approach of the solar flux density determination based on a measurement-supported simulation technique where an acceptable uncertainty of the ...

A 200kW central receiver CPV system
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2015Raygen Resources has recently completed a Central Receiver CPV (CSPV) pilot plant in Central Victoria, Australia. The system is under final commissioning and initial operation is expected in late April 2015. The pilot demonstrates a full scale CSPV repeatable unit in a form that is representative of a commercial product and provides a test bed to prove

Robust optimal aiming strategies in central receiver systems
Renewable Energy, 2020Abstract A central receiver system is a power plant that consists of a receiver mounted atop of a central tower and a field of adjustable mirrors called heliostats. The heliostats concentrate solar radiation onto the receiver where a fluid is heated to produce electricity in a conventional thermodynamic cycle.

The 500 kWe CRS plant has a north field of heliostats directing reflected solar energy to a tower mounted receiver. Thermal energy from the receivers is piped to a hot storage tank and then to a steam generator which produces superheated steam. This superheated steam is fed to a steam motor to produce mechanical energy to drive an electric generator ...
