Angioarchitectural evolution of clival dural arteriovenous fistulas in two patients. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Dural arteriovenous fistulas (dAVFs) may present in a variety of ways, including as carotid-cavernous sinus fistulas. The ophthalmologic sequelae of carotid-cavernous sinus fistulas are known and recognizable, but less commonly seen is the rare clival ...

Oral Celastrol Nanomedicine Targeting Intestinal Antigen‐Presenting Cells to Effectively Mitigate Autoimmune Uveitis via Gut‐Retina Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Oral nanoCEL exhibits effective intestinal targeting of antigen‐presenting cells and restores the Th17/Treg balance in lymph nodes and spleen, ultimately protecting the blood‐retinal barrier by inhibiting peripheral immune cell infiltration and suppressing retinal glial cell activation.

Inflammatory and angiogenic protein detection in the human vitreous : cytometric bead assay [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Introduction. To evaluate clinical feasibility and reproducibility of cytometric bead assay (CBA) in nondiluted vitreous samples of patients with age-related macular degeneration (ARMD), diabetic macular edema (DME), and central retinal vein occlusion ...

Cellular Identity Crisis: RD3 Loss Fuels Plasticity and Immune Silence in Progressive Neuroblastoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Researchers discovered that therapy‐induced loss of RD3 protein in neuroblastoma triggers a dangerous shift: cancer cells become more stem‐like, invasive, and resistant to treatment while evading immune detection. RD3 loss suppresses antigen presentation and boosts immune checkpoints, creating an immune‐silent environment.

Central Retinal Vein Occlusion Following Intravenous Immunoglobulin Treatment in a Patient with Pemphigus Vulgaris

open access: yesAnkara Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Mecmuası, 2017
A 68-year-old male has been treated with prednisolone and intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) therapies with the diagnosis of pemphigus vulgaris. When he applied to receive the fifth session of IVIG therapy, he complained about visual loss.

Correlation from undiluted vitreous cytokines of untreated central retinal vein occlusion with spectral domain optical coherence tomography [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Purpose: To correlate inflammatory and proangiogenic key cytokines from undiluted vitreous of treatment-naïve central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) patients with SD-OCT parameters. Methods: Thirty-five patients (age 71.1 years, 24 phakic, 30 nonischemic)

Mitochondrial Transplantation as a Therapeutic Strategy for Inherited Mitochondrial Diseases

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial transplantation (MTx) offers a promising therapeutic avenue for mitochondrial diseases. This review comprehensively evaluates MTx, differentiating its feasibility for mtDNA‐ and nDNA‐based disorders. It examines its potential for genetic correction, alongside inherent limitations, technical challenges, and crucial ethical considerations ...

Establishing an experimental rat model of photodynamically-induced retinal vein occlusion using erythrosin B [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
AIM:To develop a reliable, reproducible rat model of retinal vein occlusion (RVO) with a novel photosensitizer (erythrosin B) and study the cellular responses in the retina.METHODS:Central and branch RVOs were created in adult male rats via ...

Dorsal Raphe VIP Neurons Are Critical for Survival‐Oriented Vigilance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
DRNVIP neurons in mice and primates are strategically positioned to influence the central extended amygdala via feedback loops. They regulate the excitability of PKC‐δ neurons in the ovBNST and CeA through glutamate release. Their ablation heightens activity in these regions, disrupts active‐phase sleep architecture, enhances risk assessment behaviors ...
